Commercial Description:
Hearty and satisfying, our Coffee Stout is the ultimate full-bodied brew. Wisconsin water, roasted malts, and imported hops are the natural ingredients we use to brew this bier. Then cold pressed organic coffee from Just Coffee Co-op is infused into the brew. Expect this bier to pour a deep creamy head over an ebony rich body. Notice the powerful malt bouquet balanced by a spectrum of extravagant flavor. Served at room temperature this Wisconsin Coffee Stout is guaranteed to warm even the coldest heart.

12oz Bottle $6.49 6-Pack Roy’s Market New Glarus New Glarus Coffee Stout pours the darkest of browns with glowing garnet highlights when held to the light. A one finger khaki head formed and quickly faded to a solid skim coat. Drink lacing after each sip. Good looking brew. Aroma is what was expected. Roasted malts with welcoming hazelnut drifting throughout. Freshly ground coffee beans on the backend. Slight lactic quality. Flavor is much like the aroma. Lightly roasted malts start things off but fall to a backdrop fairly quickly. Hazelnut shows up around mid palate along with a hint of spicy hops. The fresh coffee shows up on the finish with a few drops of cream. Very good flavor The mouthfeel is just a little on the thin side. A creamier mouthfeel would go perfect with the flavors. The thinner body does make this beer an easy drinker. Good drinkability for a stout. Thinner body makes this go down incredibly easy. Very flavorful enjoyable stout. The coffee is subdued and in no way overpowering like some other coffe infused beers I’ve sampled in the past. A sessionable coffee stout. Another winner from New Glarus. 7/19/07

Picked this up in Milwaukee. Lots of classic coffee stout aromas and flavors. Flavor is on the sweet side and the beer is loaded with "zing" on the tongue. A very nice stout from an excellent brewer.

Picked up single 12-oz bottle from Bob McFarland’s Liquors in McFarland, Wisconsin. Pours a near opaque dark brown brew with an average off-white head that slowly dissolves to a creamy thin head and large bubbles in the center. Aroma of mostly smoked dark malt, some flowery hops and just bearely anything resembling coffee or molasses. Taste is full bodied, very light carbonation with a velvety smooth texture. Flavors include flowery and sweet hops, some dark chocolate and graham crackers. The finish is when the coffee taste kicks in with a slight bitterness and a lingering coffee aftertaste. A pretty decent stout, even for the summer time.

Thanks to my friend Jason (non ratebeerian who likes good beer) for picking this up for me while in Wisc. Dark brown pour with a thin tan creamy head. Obviously coffee is in the aroma; I also get some hop scents. Very easy drinking. Really nice touch on the coffee. Not too overpowering. Smooth flavor. This is good!

(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=2 target=blank>OhioDad, thanks Scott!) Pours very dark brown with some ruby highlights. Four fingers of smooth, creamy, rocky khaki head. Aroma is coffee and some bittersweet chocolate and is also a little soapy. Mouthfeel smooth, almost buttery, just a bit on the thin side. Patchy globs and rings of lacing. Flavor is coffee and light bittersweet chocolate. A little more sweet than roasty. Coffee flavor is just about right - not as overpowering as Founders Breakfast but not quite as appealing to me as, say, Ipswich Oatmeal. A nice beer though.

Bottle. Decent stout. Strong chocolate aroma. Little to no head. Flavor is a good balance of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Thin body for a stout.

Pours black, little head. Aroma of coffee. Full mouth feel with a strong coffee and cream flavor. I have to agree with Stine on the mineral water qualities. Well done coffee stout.
