Commercial Description:
Hearty and satisfying, our Coffee Stout is the ultimate full-bodied brew. Wisconsin water, roasted malts, and imported hops are the natural ingredients we use to brew this bier. Then cold pressed organic coffee from Just Coffee Co-op is infused into the brew. Expect this bier to pour a deep creamy head over an ebony rich body. Notice the powerful malt bouquet balanced by a spectrum of extravagant flavor. Served at room temperature this Wisconsin Coffee Stout is guaranteed to warm even the coldest heart.

12-oz. Thanks, SecretSanta! Pours a deep opaque black with a moderately thick moussy tan head. Plenty of coffee on the nose, and for a minute there I was thinking oats. I still smell them but evidently I miss my guess; they don’t seem to have been part of the grain bill. Nice big roastiness on the attack, though; this has a great body up front and some tingly carb and the flavors are full. The mid-palate hollows out, though, and this turns into something of a coffee bomb without too awfully much else going on.

Pours a dark reddish brown with a large coffee and cream colored head. The aroma is kinda stinky. Not much of a nice coffee flavor, but actually had a mild manure note that I found quite unpleseant. The flavor is very thin. Mild coffee, a little roastiness, no real hops. Very thin. This thin mouthfeel is perhaps the worst thing about it, which considering the rest of this review, says a lot. Not great. First bad beer I’ve had from them.

Thanks to Ughsmash and pantanap, who both sent me a bottle. Dark brown with a small head. Aroma of bitter coffee and dark roasted malts. (I do realize that there isn’t coffee added) A little thin for the style, but a pretty good taste, nonetheless.

Bottle from drewbeerme. Full, roasty aroma, very much like a calm, refined cup of coffee. Big head on the pour. Perhaps a little too much, considering the carbonation in this one is a bit over. Unfortunately it is also quite thin, and the two combine really detract from what would otherwise probably be a pretty good flavor. As nice as the nose is, this beer is really bogged down by a terrible body. Ah well.

From a 12oz Bottle. Rated Blind. Pours a dark black, opaque color with a thick layer of creamy tan foam. Aromas of mild roast coffee, lots of chocolate covered malt balls, and a hint of vanilla. As it warms up a bit, some bittersweet chocolate fudge starts to make a pleasing appearance. Medium bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel with a nice, creamy texture. Lots of really light, creamy flavors that bring an abundance of dry rich chocolates, roasted biscuit and some coffee with cream. A little bit of toasted almond nuttiness as well. Quite tasty, and packs a lot of pleasurable flavors into a body that’s obviously quite low in ABV.

Not as coffeeish as I had expected. Some dark fruit and chocolate flavors as well, not just one-note coffee.

Bottle: Pours a dark brown with a loose tan head. Aroma, coffee, some fruits and some faint chocolate, really roasty coffee. Flavor, dark fruits, some roasted malts, coffee, a nice earthy/roasty bitterness to it. Some chocolate in there. Very drinkable, good stuff.

Exploded out of the bottle, black in color with some brown light showing through the edges and a thick, brown head that thins. Aroma is of subtle coffee, soft and mellow with a rich, roasted chocolate and a hint of earthiness. Very aromatic. Soft roasted flavors of mostly coffee. Fairly dry finish, some earthy hops. Medium body, fairly creamy texture and a dry, chalky finish that is very nice. How different from Road Slush? A bit less complex, or a positive way of putting it would be "more smooth." I really do like this one though.
