Nose of fresh coffee and roasted malt, hints of cocoa. Taste of rich coffee with a strong roasted, near burnt malt finish. Little bits of cocoa and bittersweetness present. Has a rich body and flavor blends together well. Nice stout, thanks to Jeremy for sharing. BuckeyeBoy (1674), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2007 12oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a dark brown with a small sized tan head. My 1st impression when smelling this one was a cup of Hot Chocolate. Lots of cocoa with vanilla, caramel, vanilla, light roast and light coffee. Tastes of roast, chocolate, caramel, and a trace of coffee. If I would have tasted this blind, I would have pegged this as a Chocolate Stout. Is it a good beer, yes. Is this a good Coffee Stout, no (with coffee in the name, I expect something damn near a cup of coffee!). TomDecapolis (3203), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 15, 2007 Pours a deep brown with hints of amber and a smaller light tan head that left some lacing. Aroma of cocoa, milk chocolate, hints of coffee. Flavor of roasted malts, chocolate, toffee sweetness and just hints of coffee. Was kind of surprised that this didn’t have more coffee going on. A nice sweet stout though. chimpscampee (566), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Too ho-hum for me to bother with details. A clunky uneveness with the obligatory notes your would expect in a coffee stout. iowaherkeye (1873), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 13, 2007 12oz picked up @ the brewery, no date. Sits black in my tulip with a quickly fading 3/4 finger beige head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts, grain, molasses, some sweet raisins and unsweetened chocolate. Flavor is much the same with a chalky dry finish. Light bitterness up front but is overtaken by the brown sugar and molasses sweetness. Smooth mouthfeel that could’ve been better if the body wasn’t as thin as it was. Moderate carbonation, light to medium body. I thought this beer actually had coffee in it, but after rating and reading the description, I see there is no coffee--just roasted malts. drewbeerme (2305), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 11, 2007 12oz, pours dark brown with thin white head. nose has baker’s chocolate, toasted oats, and very very mild coffee. wow what a disappointing brew, watery, mild notes of oatmeal, baker’s chocolate. too thin and weak. where’s the coffee? no roastiness. taste like an oatmeal porter. a decent beer but considering this was supposed to be a coffee stout, this sucks. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 9, 2007 Translucent and midnight black in color with chestnut lightening shining through. A fuzzy, spackle tan lacing and icy island line the top. Blackened mocha soot joins broiled cocoa bricks and dark chocolate caramel turtle candies in the nose. Sweet brown sugar meets caramel to course through the sweet, iced, milky café mocha aromatic bridge to the flavor. Auspicious, fairly melodramatic coffee stout character traits. Light body takes chocolaty cola through espresso tins post-drip. Bitter cocoa nibs chime in with light, aerated French roast grinds and immature mocha beans on the counter, void of the desirable grease. The mouthfeel is equally anticlimactic. Bittersweet dark chocolate wafers diffuse into the distance.
