The beer pours a very dark brown-black with a definite red hue to it; clear; little head on my pour. The aroma is very coffee--like grounds of a not especially high quality, with the first percolations of morning. The flavor has a beautiful roasted quality leaping out. Any bitterness is understated. Some chocolate. Not especially complex--just lots of lovely coffee flavor. Thin body, it almost would suit to call this a Coffee Porter. If it was, I think it would come out slightly better in the battle to control expectations. I had a bit of my bottle poured over vanilla ice cream and the result was, of course, heavenly, with shades of a Bailey's Irish Creme flavor and a nice hazlenut mocha coffee flavor. A beer worth drinking. Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA
