Commercial Description:
Copper Kettle Weiss is designed in the traditional style of a dark wheat beer. Rich malt flavors are accentuated through our complicated decoction mash and finally balanced with select Hallertau hops.

Bottle shared by sliffy, thanks! Hazy orange pour with an off white head. Aroma of bananas, citrus, apricot, yeast and a bit of mint. More bananas, some clove, yeast and some lemon zest. Lively carbonation, though a little bit thick. Pretty solid stuff.

Hazy orange-amber body. Creamy off-white head that laces well. Fruit (strawberry/peach) and a creamy malt backing in the aroma. The flavor has a citric bite alongside a soft wheat base. There is also a tasty apple yeastiness finishing with a light grassy hopping. Great stuff.

I have never had a hefe rise so much and so fast when you swirl the bottom of the bottle, 2 shakes and it was a race; me getting the bottle to the glass or the head rising to overflow. Appearane wise the color is the lightest dunkel I have ever seen and the head is very insubstantial with very large bubbles which ties in with the carbonation issue. Great banana aroma initially, some clove. Taste is not up to the aroma, a mildly spiced banana bread, not too sweet, dry finish. It might be me but I think American Hefe’s are on the decline. This one seemed rushed which is a shame cause I know this brewer can excel at this style, ie Solstice. I am dropping my score cause I am tired of the head coming over the bottle when opened.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep hazy dark gold/ light orange with a nice fluffy white head and a sticky lace. Not as dark as any other dunkelweizen- more similar to a traditional hefe like weihenstephaner or Schneider as far as color. Aroma is ripe banana and light clove, smooth wheat and vanilla. Flavor is grainy, wheat, doughy malts, lightly yeasty, phenolic with light peppery spice- some salty hints in the end. Nice smooth full mouthfeel and good aftertaste. One of the best American-Made Hefe.

Poured a hazy orange color with a large off-white head. Malty and yeasty aroma. The malty flavor had notes of toast and caramel. There was some tartness to the caramel part. Usual wheaty notes as well.

Bottle: Courtesy fo Styles. The aroma has moderate banana, caramel, light roastiness, smoke, and a hint of lemon. Pours a hazy reddish-orange with a small off-white head. The flavor starts with some light lemon up front with moderate banana in the middle. The finish is lightly roasty with some hints of smoke. The mild carbonation produces a soft mouthfeel.

Purchased at Steve’s in Madison. I think calling this a "dunkelweizen" is a bit of a misnomer. But whatever its called, its well crafted and flavorful. Enjoyed this with a German dinner of Rouladen, Kartoffelkloesse, and of course, Sauerkraut with bacon. Pours a orange hue with notes of hay and spice on the nose. Leads into creamed wheat and banana peel. Its central fault is its excessive carbonation. Solid, and really shows its virtues with the German food.
