Hazy gold, nice fluffy white head, a bunch of visible carbonation. Nose takes me back to sitting in a sunny biergarten in Stuttgart. Bubblegum, spicy hop notes, clove, toasty (very lightly bready?) malt. Flavor is clove, light astringency (Almost hairspray), bubblegum, awesome toasty malt which is somehow juicy - if that makes sense. Lots of spice comes out towards the finish - clove & other tingly things I can’t quite describe. Really great. Highly carbonated & perfect for the style. sebletitje (1997), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of Roy’s Singles Selection (New Glarus, WI). Pours a golden glowing hue, big bright white bubbly head that dies to a decent layer, laces fairly well, cakey, well hazed body. Aromas are pretty estery off the bat with banana, clove, lemon, and flaked wheat maltiness with a touch of that bitterness it gives off. Initial is very flavorful, banana and clove forward and a good authentic Weizen feel with a touch of lemon, faint cinnamon, white flaked wheat and a decent bitterness on the backend instead of slipping into a watery dull finish. An assertive weisse, certainly flavorful, and at 7.2% it packs a bit of a punch, although it seems well hidden enough further into the body. body is light, yet smooth, creamy and coats flavors well. I enjoyed this, although it may be a touch strong for everyday drinking, which is how I generally envision a Hefe, sessionable and an everyday affair. Good. Very good.
