| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 20, 2006 Bottle, must be 2005, from StewardofGondor, consumed on 4/19/06 Very bright straw golden, with a polished brass sheen and a touch of light copper. Two-finger, white head shows fair retention at best. Spalt and/or saaz hops are crisp, dry and evoke images of farm-fresh hay. Bit of doughy yeast, baked, gooey baguette providing soft honey and a touch of spiciness on end from the hops/yeast. Pure two-row barley and some honey open up the flavor. Baked baguette-like honey-doughiness, showing medium attenuation, begins to build but is brushed away, not quite fully, perhaps. Crisp rush of carbonation and light yeast crispness show up quickly and are gone, midway through. This leaves a round, pillowy texture on the end with absolutely zero edge to it. A touch of spiciness from the hops lingers, not long, on the end, while dough continues to blanket the palate. Quite full and refreshing, with some nutty and lightly hay-like hops drying things out en finale. No flaws. Aroma grows lightly flowery/heathery as it warms. Spotty lacing and head at cover by the end. Could use a tad more attenuation and the carbonation is perhaps, a bit too large-bubbled. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2006 12oz bottle via trade with DavidP - Thanks David! - Pours golden with a fluffy white head and lots of carbonation rising to the top. Aroma of light grains and crisp floral hops. Flavor is those same light grains and crisp clean floral hops. Also a touch of yeast there. Palate as mentioned is crisp clean and light bodied. A great summer beer I’m sure and a pretty nice example of the style. Nice brew. RAYBOY01 (1870), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2006 This Pils has some interesting maple, pale malt, floral, honey and grassy notes. I found this to be easy drinking and enjoyable. I’d order these again. Surprised to see this listed as retired, because El Borracho found them all over the place in Wisconsin stores this week. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 23, 2006 aroma: reasonable. appearance: very normal. flavor: very good for a pilsener (far from my favorite style). very true to the pilsener style, it made me think of urquell and how much less immediately sharp this is. instead it pronounced the pilsener flavor itself (hops/lagered) and i was able to appreciate it. palate too was normal. i gave it a 17 because it’s a terrific representation of its style. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 19, 2006 I just bought one of these and was a bit skeptical that it was "retired." This doesn’t show any signs of going bad. This is a pretty good pilsner but lacking in aroma and flavor. Some hops which is nice and not skunky like a lot of pilsners. Light copper color and crystal clear. Head disippates rather quickly. Crisp and refreshing but I think Spotted Cow is a better option. GeneralGao (3076), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2006 12 oz bottle. Slightly hazy golden color with bubbly white head. Weak sprucy hop aroma. Modestly sweet and grainy...very much like cereal with sugar on top. There is also a subtle citrus note. Thin with a crisp finish. Pretty standard. tjthresh (1781), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 7, 2006 12 oz bottle from 1fastSTi. Poured in to a tankard. Quite a pretty beer. Golden on the verge of amber. Poured with a fluffy snow white head that lasted a bit longer that expected. Teeny-tiny carbonation bubbles on the rise. Spicey, herbal, earthy hops and sweet grains are balanced well in the aroma, while the hop are the feature in each drink. Medium-light body makes this a classic lawn mower beer, and welcome in my glass anytime. Brigadier (1257), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2006 Very thin head. Pours a light hazy yellow. The hops are very evident in this one. Aroma contained citrus (orange and lemon) and wheat. The taste was very subtle, and not bitter at all. Went down very smoothly. A little watery, but overall a very good pilsner.
