Pours a clear, effervescent, medium-golden color; solidly developed, creamy white head with great retention and lacing; a beautiful pour. Reasonably dry, toasty aroma, showing honey and light citrus; but not bready or zesty enough to really stand out. Medium mouthfeel: basic, light toasted malts, citrus, and yellow fruits upfront; the carbonation is a touch relaxed, but there’s some lemony acidity in there to compensate; nicely zesty and alive in the mouth; very drinkable and enjoyable pilsener overall. Medium finish, showing toasty grains, light wheatiness, and some yellow fruit; soft, nicely dry ending to things. Skyview (4095), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 Picked up single 12-oz bottle at Riley’s World of Wines in downtown, Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear golden blonde brew with a thick white head that slowly dissipates to a thin white ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of golden grain malt, a touch of honey, light citrus zest, and some grassy hops. Taste is light bodied, some average carbonation with flavors of golden grain malt, maybe a little corn malt, honey, grassy hops and farm hay. Finish is semi-dry with a light citrus and golden grain malt aftertaste that turns crisp. Beerlando (2353), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2008 The clear golden body is crowned by a spongy mound of pure white foam. Random splotches of sticky lacing mark the glass like paintball splatters. The scent is clean and crisp, dry grains and aromatic floral hops washed in a doughy, creamy yeast. A hint of lemon zest shows on a deep inhale. Flavors are smooth, well integrated, and lacking in shortcuts. There’s no corn malts here, this thing is the real deal. Drying wheat and barley notes are soothed by lactic cream, floral hops lending a sharp but delicate bite on the finish. Excellent balance. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel with a short, crisp, dry finish. This is exactly what I want in a Pils. Solid brew. iowaherkeye (1877), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2008 12oz bottle, no date. Clear medium gold with a white one-finger head, fair retention. Sweet corn grain up front with some floral hops and hay notes. Flavor again has some hay and sweet corn with some floral grassiness, with the only addition being a bit of bread dough. the finish is semi-dry and has bitterness creeping up to only a 2 or so--nicely balanced. Medium body with soft carbonation. A pretty enjoyable pils. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 9, 2008 Updated: Aug 12, 2008Deep marigold yellow and a furiously dissipating cap of white, gone almost the instant it forms. Fresh honey, orange blossom and cereal grain aroma; a mite of minerals, and some herb rubbed dough. Predominantly sweet, but in a fresh, zippy kind of way, natural and pure like the floral fragrance of honey, on soft graininess.
Flavor, similarly, is surprisingly sweet, while the hop character is intriguingly laid back and powdery in bitterness, more of an herbal-sweet white tea leafiness than dusty grass and pepperiness of saaz that might be expected. Wildflower honey and white bread graininess still forward, and that type of dry sweetness is really helpful for the drinkability and general attractiveness of the beer, even if it tends to lead too strongly and outrun the trailing hop presence. Winks of sweetcorn. It’s a unique type of macro-micro flavor balance, that seems somewhat intentional, and that works, for the most part.
Medium palate has a sticky texture, as it clings to this wildflower honey texture throughout, effervescent with a lovely and briskly smooth middle. Noble hops expand in a drying, grassy finish, and still some sweetness. A nice, different, very quaffable pils. undsioux7 (561), Cologne, Minnesota, USA
