Commercial Description:
100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

Brown and hazy. Small beige head. Aroma is muted...malty, nutty and some light notes of chocolate. Flavor is really good, surprising after a pretty mundane aroma. Malty, chocolate, frutiy, nutty and sweet. Smooth and easy drinking. I would drink this any time!

Pours a murky brown color with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma was of malt, corn, nuts, and chocolate. Taste was malty, with malt, mild coffee, and some chocolate. Lingering nutty taste. Mouthfeel was smooth, yet crisp. A very enjoyable beer.

I really enjoyed this one. Nutty flavor. Nice dark appearance. Smooth taste and crisp palate. This is an above-average nut brown ale.

bottle. Malt floavors with a slight nuttyness. Nice bitter finish helps make this an above average brown ale.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of Alraomon. Thanks Sean! Pours an inviting brown-tinged red color with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is strong green-apple with cherry and nutty notes. Smooth taste with caramel, nuts, apple and toasted malts. Medium bodied and very well balanced.

From bottle : Aahh this is nice, the first brown ale i have got to rate in quite sometime. Pours a clear brown color, with a small dirty white head, that then dies down to just a small ring of foam around the glass. Aroma is nice, mixture of nuts, caramel, malt. Taste has a little less than the smell, but holds its own. Malts and roasted nuts, with some bitterness toward the end. Finishes with a roasted bitter flavor. A very nice brown ale.

Bottle. A very good beer that gave me new hope for New Glarus since the Spotted Cow is only slightly above average. Warm body and a relatively long lasting flavor. Not as nutty as some other nut browns but very good nonetheless.

This is a top notch brown ale. Pour is a orange, reddish brown with an off white, thick head. Aroma is pure, crisp and clean of hazelnuts, caramel, malts, and barley. Flavor is hazelnut malts and other various malty flavors. Palate is smooth, and warm and finishes dry with a slight bitterness. Very impressed.
