Commercial Description:
100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

Carolina Crew tasting. Bottle courtesy of Todd! Thanks! The aroma was bland and of plain malt. But, wow, the flavors really bowl you over. They’re simple and fairly one-dimensional, but you get a good mix of nuts, mostly domianted by roasted hazlenut

12oz bottle. Pours light brown with thin white head. Aroma is all malt. Flavor is very malty with nuts and a touch of hops and caramel. Mouthfeel was a little thin. Would not buy again as there are better browns out there.

Bottle from Monger. Light brown in color, decent one finger head. Aroma of malt. Taste is very malty but well balanced. Hint of cinamon and hops in there. Smooth very enjoyable. Sweet aftertaste. Average texture, low carbonation. Good beer. Thanks James for all the beers!

Malty aroma with a small light-brown head. Clear copper-brown color. Light hop bitterness with a sour note. Very thin body/mouthfeel. Quaffable, but not a great brown ale.

Bottle, pours a clear, whiskey brown body with a thin, light tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel malts with hints of nuts and coffee. Flavor is nuts and sweet malts. Light to medium bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Light coffee or cocoa finish with a slight metallic tone.

Was pleasently surpirsed by the flavor of this nut brown. Creamy mouth feel, sweet taste, hints of chocolate. Flavor got better as the beer was consumed.

Pours a reddish cooper color with a white mostly dissappating head. Nose is caramel. Mouthfeel is creamy. Moderately flavorful, mostly carmel with hints of toffee and barley. A note of hops greets the palate at the finish. A good beer but not as good as others from this premium brewer. Pairs well with deep fried foods, especially cheese curds or a blooming onion.
