Commercial Description:
100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

Malty aroma with a small light-brown head. Clear copper-brown color. Light hop bitterness with a sour note. Very thin body/mouthfeel. Quaffable, but not a great brown ale.

Bottle, pours a clear, whiskey brown body with a thin, light tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel malts with hints of nuts and coffee. Flavor is nuts and sweet malts. Light to medium bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Light coffee or cocoa finish with a slight metallic tone.

Was pleasently surpirsed by the flavor of this nut brown. Creamy mouth feel, sweet taste, hints of chocolate. Flavor got better as the beer was consumed.

Pours a reddish cooper color with a white mostly dissappating head. Nose is caramel. Mouthfeel is creamy. Moderately flavorful, mostly carmel with hints of toffee and barley. A note of hops greets the palate at the finish. A good beer but not as good as others from this premium brewer. Pairs well with deep fried foods, especially cheese curds or a blooming onion.

body wishes it was more thick, and so do i. color is light for the style, closer to amber in spots then a genuine brown. definate note of wood in the nose, an excellent antithesis to the usual suspects of chocolate and caramel...though those are there as well. nice note of booze as well on the palate, despite the typically low ABV. more sharp and focused then most browns. very organic feel to this one, not just another run of the mill. one of the more intelligent new glarus beers ive had.

Surprisingly good for a nut brown! Very rich, pungent, malty. Sticky body, a bit thin. Delicious toasted flavours with lots of caramel malts. Damn tasty.

Bottle, dimple mug. Pours an amber-brown. slightly hazy, red highlights through the body. Moderate amount of a pale tan head, which dissipates in thickness but sticks around as a film atop the beer. The main aroma is caramel malts, a little banana thrown in. Big malt body, brown sugar in the front progressing towards fruit sweetness like raisins and sweet oranges. The body of the beer holds up the sweetness well, and it goes down very smooth. Lingering finish of vanilla and hazelnuts with only a touch of bitterness.

Rich & hazy amber color. Not much of a head but the low carbonation goes down easy. Slightly hoppy taste with a distinct nutty overtone. Not a big fan of the brown ales but I would drink this again.
