Commercial Description:
100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

Definitely a few steps up from the spotted cow. Had a lot of malty character with some toasted barley along with some toffee taste and some hazelnut taste. A solid beer that I wouldn’t look down on someone for drinking however it’s not my favorite so I probably wouldn’t buy again.

Nutty brown color with a caramel colored head. Great nutty caramel taste, with a nicehoppy finish that is’nt over whelming. A good brown ale.

Courtesy of Alexsdad06, thanks Brad! 12 oz bottle. Pours a nut brown particulated color witha small creamy tan head. Nose of roasted malts, dark fruit, cocoa, with sour notes in the background. Initial taste begins with a smooth roasted malt that really brings out a nice beginning presence to the brew. Also apparent in the mid palate is a deeper smokiness, nuts, cocoa all well balanced and very tasty. Finishing with a mildy hopped palate, sweet malts and lingering roastiness. Medium body. Dry finish. Minor head retention and lacing of glass. Very nice!

moderate,, good color, nice aroma, bitter if beer is served too cold. Best taste in the 50 to 60 degree range. A beer I enjoy to drink.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear reddish-amber with little head or carbonation. Aroma is sweet, with a strong aroma of roasted malt along with nuts and some earthy hints of yeast, spices, and corn. Taste is fairly light and sweet, with tastes of caramel, honey, and roasted malt giving way to a lingering finish of spice and hops. A pleasantly complex but still simple brown ale.

Distinctively nutty with strong notes of brown sugar and honey. Not much of a head to speak of, but still quite striking in its lighter than usual brown hue. While perhaps a bit sweet for my tastes, this is a fantastically balanced ale that has a long, smooth finish. Pair with a sharp cheddar and thinly sliced salami.

Sample provided by mj. Clear dark amber body with a medium-sized off-white head. The nose is lightly sweet with lots of munich malt, biscuit, nuts and caramel. The flavor is lightly sweet with herbal hops, caramel, nuts and light honey. Medium body is soft with moderate carbonation. Decent stuff.
