Jan 6, 2008 Draft pint at Dotty’s in Madison. Light nuttiness, with some sweet chewy malt flavors throughout. Munich-malt is what it tastes like, with some sweet tea and maple. A decent brown ale but very simple and uncomplex.

Dec 31, 2007 12oz bottle courtesy of Monger.Light amber body with a very soapy looking off white head. Mostly lasting with sporadic drip lacing. Nose of soapy hops, caramel malts, floral hops and cereal grains. Flavor is pretty much identical to the aroma, again with no nuttiness or any of the traits I associate with a brown ale. Medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Finish is soapy/dusty hops, caramel/toffee malts and honey sweetness, medium in length. In the end I don’t really know what to make of this one. As a result, this is the first beer from New Glarus that I can say I was disappointed in and would not drink again. Just doesn’t seem like a brown ale at all, and whatever style is in the bottle is only average at best.

Dec 30, 2007 Pours to a reddish brown with off-white head that lingers awhile and leaves okay lacing. Mild malty aroma of roasted nuts and earthy scents, with flavor following suit.
Body was fairly thin, and the finish a bit on the stale side, or I would have rated higher.

Dec 25, 2007 Pours a brown hazy amber with a little bit of creamy head that dissipates into a bit of lace. a very light sweet aroma but it isn’t very strong. It is an easy beer to drink balanced between nut and toast. Light and a decent nut brown.

Dec 23, 2007 Amber color with an off white head that shrank to a lasting ring. Sweet grainy nose with some nuttiness. Easy drinking brown ale, with nutty, lightly toasted grain flavors, and an almost cinnamon spiciness to it. Nice example of a style that too frequently gets phoned in by the brewer. Dec 23, 2007 Beer pours a hazelnut brown with a beige head and decent lacing. Smell is of sweet malt and slightly nutty. Taste is predominantly of nuts, with a bit of chocolate in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, almost a creamy feel to it. Drinkability, great for enjoying just one with an evening meal, or many with friends for a night out.

Dec 22, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours deep copper with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet and nutty. Flavor is smooth and light with hints of nuts and malt. Nice.

Dec 19, 2007 pours a amber copper with mild white head. sweet malty almost chalky aroma. sweet front to mild finish with a milky palate. chocolate dry finish. more to it than expecting as far as complexity. sugary sweet with tart dry finish.
