Commercial Description:
100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

This beer made my time in wisconsin much better. Amber in color with a nutty taste and smell.

Amber color with a medium white head. Aroma is malty, bready, and a bit nutty. Flavor is a nice mix of fresh barley, baked bread, light brown sugar/maple syrup, and chocolate. Well hopped for the style. Tasty brown.

Dark pour with almost no head to speak of. Flavor was very good, though I had to wait until a ’cooler’ evening to give it a try. Strong hazelnut flavors with chocolate undertones. Highly carbonated, but very drinkable nevertheless. Another quality product from the folks at New Glarus

A fairly decent beer with alot of nut taste. Good winter beer but not for drinking at the beach.

Brown color with almost no head. Thin white lacing and a nutiness on the nose. I can’t quite place it, but all New Glarus beers that I’ve had recently have similar undertones in the nose. Very nutty nose with faint chocolate and hazelnut hints.

Thanks Josh! clear very light brown. not so great tan disappearing head. unimpressive caramel aroma with a hint of hazelnut. sweet caramel flavor with some hazelnut notes. medium dry sweet cola hazelnut finish. light to medium body. lively carbonation. its just not that great.

Very smooth though neither overly complex nor extremely tasty. This dark brown ale is very smooth and goes well with salty foods, such as pizza or burgers. Rather malty, though not in an aggressive way, with nice nutty notes and very light barely notes.

Kind of a Wisconsin version of Newcastle. Lighter than you’d think and maltier than you’d think, but really nothing that wonderful. NG has done better.
