Why the logo when they removed all those trees is another matter. Not a fan of Brown’s which is why I did not enter this before.
Pours a medium brown color with a small non lasting head. A clear malt aroma and taste, sweet, with some vanilla, very faint at the end. One I was glad I could switch with the IPA and pils( all had the green neck label). tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA

Fairly straightaway flavor profile: A hint of toffee, dry chocolate, nuts and a refreshingly hoppy finish. Very nice beer. slavnikus (3), Pinckney, Michigan, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 30, 2007 Excellent beer! Fat Squirrel pours chestnut brown with the slightest bit of haze from bottle conditioning. A 1 finger dense white creamy head formed on the pour that faded to a half finger of even denser creaminess. Minimal large carbonation bubbles rise to the head. Leaves sheet lacing after each sip.
Aroma is a little on the faint side. Toasted malts lead the way followed by an enjoyable nuttiness. Whiffs of white toast rise to the nose. Faint dusty yeast aroma as well.
Flavor starts off with a solid toasted malt and hazelnut backdrop. On top of that there is a nice mild brown sugar sweetness. A nice little hop bite hits on the backend. The hop flavors are tough for me to pull out. I believe I’m getting some pine and grassy flavors. Overall a very nice flavor.
Body is medium with a pleasant carbonation prickliness on the back of the tongue. The hops leave a slight bitterness on the tip of my tongue. My only complaint is the body might be a little too thin.
Good flavor and the thinner body actually makes this a very easy drinker. It disappears far faster than I thought it was.
Another good quality session brew from New Glarus. Every brew I try of theirs hits the spot and this is no exception.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 20, 2007 Bottle from Moejuck. Initially opened at a frosty 40 degrees, warmed up to 65 or so over an hour. Much better warm than cold. Aroma is a nutty caramel, hazelnut and cream. Chewy, slightly sweet, and invigorating in the mouth. Great drinkability. Solid. alexsdad06 (1098), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear brown color with a small tan head that much like a thief in the night leaves no trace behind. The aroma contained roasted malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. I get much of the same with the flavor. Roasted malts, caramel, and just enough bitterness not to make this beer too one dimensional. Not a bad brown ale. One left until my next package from Wisconsin.
