Commercial Description:
100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

Bottle from Moejuck. Initially opened at a frosty 40 degrees, warmed up to 65 or so over an hour. Much better warm than cold. Aroma is a nutty caramel, hazelnut and cream. Chewy, slightly sweet, and invigorating in the mouth. Great drinkability. Solid.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown color with a small tan head that much like a thief in the night leaves no trace behind. The aroma contained roasted malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. I get much of the same with the flavor. Roasted malts, caramel, and just enough bitterness not to make this beer too one dimensional. Not a bad brown ale. One left until my next package from Wisconsin.

Ruby\Brown color, small tan head that had a short hang time then faded leaving nothing behind. The aroma was mildly roasty a little caramel a faint hint of vanilla.Vanilla caoffee flavor up front with a middle that comes on as being a bit acidic and roasty, then smoothes out in the end with a bit of a caramel and roasty after taste, with just a hint of hoppy bitterness in the end.All in all not a bad brew, fairly smooth and easy to drink well worth having a few more for the summer.

From a trade with TomDecapolis. Moderate nutty coffee aroma. Amber color with some off white foam, no head. Starts slightly bitter with a light nutty taste. Finishes sweet.

I like nut brown ales- and this one is better than average. Not overly big or compelx, but a nice balance and flavor. Probably wouldn’t drink it if something more interesting were available. But tastes good after mowing the grass. Not as wimpy as the Spotted Cow.

I love this beer. It has an excellent and fairly strong nutty/caramel aroma to it. It has a wonderful nutty flavor to it. It has a nut texture...Imagine the texture in your mouth right after you’ve swallowed some pecans. I guess it’s hard to explain, so you’ll have to try it yourself! Highly recommended.

Bottle at DLD. Nice brown mild hop aroma and a lot of malt to this. Very drinkable and solid brown ale.
