| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2006 This beer offers an aroma that resembles roasted hazel nuts. It is a caramel brown color that has a decent head. This beer enters the mouth heavy yet smooth. It has a mild bitter nutty taste that lingers well. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA

It was OK. frisbe60 (14), Spring Green, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with marinaro500 and footbalm, thanks Joe and Eric!) Leave it to New Glarus to take a boring style and make a top notch offering that leads by example. This is a great brown ale. Sweet, deliciously malty, caramely, very toasty, slightly roasty in the finish, with just a hint of bitterness. The nose echoes the flavor, but is just a bit less sweet and perhaps more roasty. Medium-full bodied with mild carbonation. Light brown color is bordering on dark amber, but wow, talk about perfect clarity for a beer this color, it’s absolutely crystal clear. The light tan head is fairly fizzy and quickly dissipates to a ring, leaving no lacing behind. Not my favorite brown ale, but definitely in the upper echelon. Jedsbrew (465), Rhineland, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Dec 5, 2005 Poured a rich amber hue with very little head or lacing and a fruity cherrylike aroma. Light bodied, malty with light bitterness, caramely. Clean short finish. Not as good as I thought it would be, no bottling info that I could see. kramer (2471), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 18, 2005 12 oz bottle via trade with 1FastSTi. Clear copper pour, thin white head fleeting in duration. Aroma is of mild maltiness with an odd apple? smell. Pretty boring flavor, though nicely balanced. Palate is thin and lacking in depth. Overall a somewhat boring beer in a very boring style category. I will say that there was some oxidation in the finish, so possibly not the freshest sample? TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 11, 2005 Dark copper with a thin, slightly off-white head. Same theme is carried into the flavor, which is also complemented with a very light sour fruit note. Medium body and nice bubbly palate. A simple beer done quite well.
