Commercial Description:
100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

I for some reason seldom really enjoy a nut brown ale. This is no exception. It was sweet and malty, with a hint of sour, and pretty smooth. I don’t like hazelnut in my coffee, or I guess anything I drink.

12oz bottle pours a translucent copper brown with a thin, fading white head. Aroma is very weak, some light malts, slightly nutty, no hops. Thankfully the flavor picks up a bit. Malty and sweet, crackers, bread, biscuits and lightly nutty. Clean and crisp on the palate with some slight residual sweetness. Either I had a bad bottle or this seems to be a bit overrated for me.

Bottle, extra in a trade thanks John .A clear golden brown color with a fluffy 2 finger offwhite head.Aroma has notes of caramel malt and roasted malt with a light but definite presence of some hoppy bitterness and tartness. Flavor has a nice nutty character up front with some sweet tones, light biscuit, and a light but nicely done showing of hops...some bitterness and a very light tartness. Tasty. A medium mouthfeel and light carbonation. Very drinkable. This went very well with my grilled steak and potato.

Definitely a lighter Brown Ale than I’ve seen. Aroma is sweet and slightly nutty. Pours a clear pure brown with white head. Once you drink it, it surprises you with this hop bouquet - that is both clean and bitter. Finish is clean. The flavor has notes of nuts, milk chocolate, and just a touch of grass.

Deep clear amber color with a nice fluffy beige head. Good lacing and retention, but this beer is a little light in color. Aroma is toasted grains and hazelnuts with some darker bready notes. Flavor is basically identical. Sweet but not too rich. Light, airy mouthfeel and a lot of flavor make this beer extremely drinkable.

courtesy of abents. Pours amber with off white head. Aroma is malty with light hazelnut nose, light hops with some esters. Taste toasted malts, nutty mouthfeel. Overall finish has good notes of the hazelnuts but also some hints of chocoltae and caramel. Possible ester palate with some faint fruity notes of dark fruits/pear in the after taste. At 5.5% this is an amazing brew, very drinkable.
