Commercial Description:
Embrace a classic! Hometown Blonde is an old world style pilsner, assertively hopped with four premium hop varieties. Tettninger, Saaz, Styrian Golding and Strisselspalt varieties all grace this German-style brew with the complex character you enjoy in a classic pilsner. Expect to pour an elegant blonde glass of beer, crowned with a rich head of foam that resonates with our chorus of hops. Although delicate in appearance, our Hometown Blonde has a backbone, but of course that’s no surprise in Wisconsin. Enjoy!

Pours a clear golden color with a slightly orange hue; frothy white head that retains well and leaves good lacing. Smell is of faint grass, spicy hops, and I get a little lemon and honey in there as well. Biscuity upfront, hints of honeycomb, hops are slightly spicy, but not overdone, a nice lemon zest too. Both body and carbonation are probably around medium levels, but very soft and refreshing on the tongue, quenching your thirst, but encouraging you to take another. Excellent beer; I plan on drinking copious amounts of this over the summer. Updated on July 17, 2007. Original smell was 4.5, taste was 5. Having had this plenty of times, I still rather enjoy it, but prefer Yokel or Edel-Pils to this one.

Pours a very clear gold. Aroma is a little hoppy with some hints of wheat. The taste is very clean and crisp with slight hoppiness and a moderate malty finish. Nothing jumps out at me. Not as good as I was expecting.

Poured pale golden yellow with some white head. Very hoppy with herbal and spice notes. Good malt back bone with a bitter punch. Dry finish. Nice.

Pours golden with a moderate, light head. Aroma is lightly hoppy, some wheat. Mouthfeel is pretty heavy for this style. Nice change of pace. Flavor is somewhat sweet, wheaty, with a light hop bite.

I’m not sure why I don’t like this beer. All the ingredients are there for a great brew to be loved by me, but I think it’s a little acidy, and there was something not quite right about the mouth-feel of the beer. Not the best beer from a pretty good brewery. From a bottle.
