The aroma is slightly sweet yet slightly bitter with nice citrusy hop notes and a touch of mint. The flavor is slightly sweet and malty with an underlying bitterness, a little citrus an a touch of mint. Medium bodied, smooth and slightly tingly. Indy (87), Hopkins, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Feb 27, 2005 Deep copper/amber color, with a foamy head that disappeared almost immediatley. Aroma is more fruity than citrusy, with a slight garden scent. Nice, crisp mouth feel. Fairly well balanced flavor, though it weighs a little too far to the malt side for my taste is IPA’s.
Overall, it’s good,, but not my favorite. I’d like to try it on tap. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA

Pours a dark amber with a small fizzy off-white head that dissipated leaving no lacing. Aroma is of strong hops with a hint of grass. This IPA has an excellent malt backbone with good hop character. There is the slight taste of grass, which takes away from it somewhat. Good mouthfeel. Overall an above-average IPA. And here I thought New Glarus only knew how to do fruit beers. jollyraider (252), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2005 Nice hops, nice citrus/pine combo. Malt is a bit weak. Kind of sweet, sticky. Hearty indeed. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2005 Copper. Hoppy, cascade infested and spicy nose bringing hints of grapefruit and resin along with a fairly substantial malt contribution as well. Lovely hop flavor (grapefruit, oil, resin) with a malt presence that shows a bit of caramel, fruit, roasted malt and chocolate along with a hint of honey. A well crafted IPA. hezron (604), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2005 Great dark amber-red color witha nice off-white head which diminished quickly. Strong arom a of pears and pine. Lightly acidic initial flavor with a bitter finish. Tastes of pine/caramel with an earthy twist. Light to medium palate with lively carbonation and a dry texture, finish is slightly metallic. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 6, 2005 Pours clear amber/orange with a disappearing head. Fruit and little hop in the aroma with tones of sweet milk chocolate. Hoppy and earthy flavor. Quite thin bodied and a dry finish. Weird. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 24, 2005 Pours darker than expected - a reddish/bronze hue. Fizzy, with little head at the top. Smells very bitter - floral hops jump right out at you. Tastes of pine and grass and fragrant flowers. There’s a honey like sweetness, which contributes to a unique sweet & sour dichotomy. This is one bitter beer, baby, but it’s pretty damn good. Another salute to the folks at New Glarus.
