Dark brown in color with hints of red in light. Sweet, roasty malt brew that is easy-drinking and fairly mild. Slight hop presence but again, mild. Not the most complex beer out there, but good nonetheless.

picked this one up on my way home from Minn. a few weeks ago. probably should have cracked this open before the NG Smoked Rye Bock and not after. oh well, this is a dark brown with a medium caramel aroma & flavor. there’s nothing over the top here, it would make for a good session type beer.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with footbalm, thanks Eric!) While Native Ale has a pretty solid aroma of dark, caramely malts and molasses, it smells very sugary sweet as well, and I’d rather that the sugary component were less obvious. Malty sweet I like, but sugary sweet seems to cheapen the beer a little to me. The flavor is tasty enough, but it’s thin and rather uninteresting, and fades off the palate pretty quickly. Caramely and sugary sweet initially, the beer finishes with a mild flash of chocolate, toast, bread and smoke. Bitterness is actually held to a minimum, so there’s nothing really to counter the various characteristics of the malt, which along with the semi-watery and lightly carbonated mouthfeel is why this beer just comes off as boring. It’s easy to drink, but with the sweetness being unchecked by any hops, I don’t think it would be too easy to drink more than one bottle at a time. Dark ruddy brown body shows a bit of translucence, and is capped by a tall, light-tan head that unfortunately dissipates fairly rapidly down to a wide ring. Not a bad beer at all, but man, it just needs some pizzazz, something to relieve my palate from the boredom.

Walnut brown with a small fizzy head. Aroma is sweet roasted malt and a bit of hops. Flavor is light roasted malt but really not as strong as the aroma leads you to believe. body feels a bit thin and the taste fades very quickly. Not a bad beer but could be better.

very easy to drink. I don’t think there’s anything outstanding about this beer, but it’d be perfect for just kickin back with a 6 pack

S’okay. It looks like a cloudy Dr. Pepper, weak head and all. The aroma is a nice, spicy, roasted malt with some caramel sweetness. Nice carbonation. The flavor is roasted and peppery, caramel with a bit of bitterness. The finish is oddly watery. S’okay alt.

Dark cloudy brown, with a small layer of tan head. The bit that lingers leaves some nice lace. I’m digging the cloudy thing. Looks old fashioned and interesting. Deep carmel aroma, light sourness, a little sweat. Flavor is lightly toasty and sour. The weird thing about this beer is that it completely disappears when you swallow. It’s almost alarming--where did the taste go?! An abrupt finish can be charming on occation (i.e. for an authentic pilsner), but in this case, it makes for an out-of-whack beer. Palate is smooth and clean--to a fault. Water is smooth and clean. This has some potential, but falls short.

Pours a dark brown/copper color w/ a small tan head that had some lacing but dissapated very quickly. Aroma was sweet malt definate carmel, some raisens and bread but it all faded quickly w/ the head. The palate was fairly even bodied smooth but a bit thin. The flavor was a bit sweet malty had an odd dry hop flavor a touch grassy and some raisens and bitterness in the finish.
