Starting back at this with this gem. I love New Glarus and JPDIPSO is still my hero even though I’ve been gone a while. Very nice beer. Roasty flavor, full bodied and definitely tasty. Excellent beer. Can’t say anything more than that. Aureth (20), Knoxville, Iowa, USA

A maltry aroma, with maybe a bit of nuttiness and coffee. Sweet, malty flavor, very smooth. Slight bitter finish. A good session beer. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 7, 2005 A standard weeknight sitting on my couch watching tv. This beer is the book definition of brown. There is no other way to describe it than brown. Looks like someone melted a brown Crayola in my glass. On top of the crayon is a little tan head. Malty, somewhat nutty. There are some dark fruit aromas, rasin and plum. Very smooth, malty, and fruity. Rasin plays nicely with a sweet malt. Some mild astringency and bitterness, but not too bitter. Quite smooth on the palate and in the finish. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

Dark reddish-brown color with a malty aroma. Thin head that fades slowly. Sweeter than expected with a mild hops and malt combination. Goes down smooth and is easy to sip. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2004 Bottle - thanks to badgerben! Pours dark brown with slight hazy blackberry hightlights when held to light. Mild aroma, malty and just a hint of floral hops. Flavor is sweet with an nice hop bite and a lingering dry finish. Medium body and prickly carbonation. Nice and easy to drink - a good session ale. jewedekind (450), Middleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 24, 2004 A nice off-white head that lingers as a thin rind around the glass. Deep ebony brown, slightly hazy. Aroma of yeast and biscuits. Taste starts as nothing, but grows on the palate while the initial hop sharpness recedes. Real complexity emerges as sweet malt or molasses. Then that’s gone as well. Style points for originality. Very good overall, badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2004 I just don’t know what the heck to expect from an alt anymore. Very dark brown color with a thin head. Light aroma of malts that start to stand out more in the taste. It strikes me as very rich, but not very deep in the flavor department. It’s enjoyable. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA
