Commercial Description:
Since 1516 Brewers have led the purity revolution. They mandated only four natural ingredients be used to brew beer. This Reinheistgebot law was the first ever food purity regulation and New Glarus Brewmaster Dan Carey has consistently respected our palates by employing yeast, water, barley and hops to explore a wide spectrum of flavor. Today Dan pushes the purity envelope by using Organic Hallertau Hops from Germany with Wisconsin organically malted barley to create a complex and assertively hoppy golden ale. This beer is even natrually carbonated, 100% bottle fermented means you can expect a flavor celebration to dance cleanly across your palate. Raise your glass and toast to Wisconsin’s common sense Revolution.

Thanks to Dickinsonbeer for sharing this. Golden in color with some orange highlights and a medium off white head. Aroma is light citrus, and earthy hops as well as some fresh pale malts- lightly biscuity. Taste is very straightforward- light notes of earthy hops and lightly sweet pale malts, balanced by a light hop bitterness. Very simple, clean, easy drinking pale ale.

Pours orange golden with a thin white head that disappears quickly, a little bit of lacing. Light grassy aroma, I notice a little citrus as well, easy drinking, but a nice sharp bitterness. Nothing spectacular, but solid.

Pretty mild nose. Nice foamy frothy head and some lace. Polished brass color with a very slight hint of haze. Interesting interplay between the sweetness, bitterness, and carbonation. Much better than what I’d remembered when I first had it a while back. Clean finish and satisfying. Had this on draft at Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse, Wis.

Had this one bottled (bottled?!) at the brewery in New Glarus, Wisconsin. Hazy, dark yellow pour with a foamy, off white head, fruity, hoppy nose with a sweet balanced taste. Champagne mouthfeel. Meh.

Very light grassy hop aromas. Good bitterness and hop flavor though. Plents of malt backbone. Low carb. Flawless, like most NG beers, just not particularly outstanding for the style. A little aroma hops would go a long way here.

(Bottle) Pours a golden color with a small white head. Aroma of light hops, caramel, and grass. Mildly bitter taste, with some light toffee, lots or grain, and even a bit of soap. Crisp, dry finish. Average palate and mouthfeel. Pretty good flavor for an organic beer.... and about what I expected overall.

Transparent and golden brass in color with a creamy, sudsy tan head. Sweet, honey hopped aroma with ginger, sun stained peas, lemon grass and subtle caramel caressing the nose. Hoppy, altruistic flavor reaches forward with jovial grass stains and freshly picked lemon grass. A hint of vanilla sweetening coats a handful of sun glazed golden corn chex. Honey glaze grass hints at the ripening greenery. Saffron and lilacs met with caramel and green grass stems. Herbal rosemary and hopped green tea. Precursory sweetness abides throughout. Subtle peaches and tangerine citric sentiments take their turns, but are overshadowed by a glowing, buttery vanilla gloss. Medium bodied and well carbonated, finishing with a hoppy and a sweet, sugary snap and grassy outtake.

Pours a cloudy orange with a thin, spotty white head. Slightly grainy and semi-sweet pale malty nose has some mild grassy hop notes. Body follows suit with the aroma, some lightly sweet toasted grainy malt flavor and a muted bittering hop presence toward a bittersweet finish. Quite drinkable and not really offensive, just doesn’t seem to have any outstanding characteristics.
