Commercial Description:
Since 1516 Brewers have led the purity revolution. They mandated only four natural ingredients be used to brew beer. This Reinheistgebot law was the first ever food purity regulation and New Glarus Brewmaster Dan Carey has consistently respected our palates by employing yeast, water, barley and hops to explore a wide spectrum of flavor. Today Dan pushes the purity envelope by using Organic Hallertau Hops from Germany with Wisconsin organically malted barley to create a complex and assertively hoppy golden ale. This beer is even natrually carbonated, 100% bottle fermented means you can expect a flavor celebration to dance cleanly across your palate. Raise your glass and toast to Wisconsin’s common sense Revolution.

Pours nice cloudy orange with thin white head. Chunky look with orange fruit aroma... flavor to match with nice sweetness and a bit of peppermint.

12oz bottle courtesy of mtjoseph. Rich orange pour with a thin white head leaving decent lacing. Plenty of particulate floating in there as well. Plenty of light fruity esters on the nose. Apricot and peaches. Some malted barley sweetness. Lightly hoppy on the tongue. Crisp. Light pine and mint. Grass. Not too bad. Not too much there either. Thanks Mark.

Bottle and served in standard pint glass: Clear golden hue with a rocky white head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of biscuity pale malt, some herbal and floral hops, a hint of apricot ester, a touch of soap and plastic. The taste is a rather straight forward simple soft grainy malt with a very light amount of hop bitterness and a dash of honey. The mouth feel is moderately carbonated and watery. This is hardly what anybody would assume is an American Pale Ale, it lacks bite or depth of palate. Once again confirming that almost every Organic beer sucks.

Pale yellow, mild carbonation. Light fruity flavor, mild hops balance it out. A little bit grainy, but not in an offensive way. Not much to say about this one, would make a good session beer since it isn’t heavy and goes down well.

Pours a deep gold but with very little head. The aroma is fruity, hints of raspberry. Flavor is very light, some hops but not very strong. A bit of spice to the flavor cloves and citrus with bitter undertones. Nothing too remarkable about this beer.

Golden yellow with no head. Smells grainy and slightly hoppy. This tastes about as close to a pils to me as an APA, but it’s smooth, drinkable, and clean. This is the type of beer that routinely comes off as skunked to my nose and palate. The fact that this one didn’t is a testament to its quality. Not my favorite style, but well-made as usual for NG.

Not nearly as hoppy as I expected given (1) It’s an APA (2) the commercial description. This is a well-balanced ale, with plenty of hops but nice malted barley offsetting the bitterness. The balance is probably why other reviewers are disappointed. Not the greatest beer ever, or even the best NG beer, but pretty good. And that’s saying something. From the bottle in a shaker. Pours a thick foamy head that left a ring and some lacing.

Pours yellow with a moderate, white, fluffy head. Aroma is light with some sweeter, fruity qualities. Moderate mouth feel. Flavor is sweeter, with some light fruity qualities. Hop bitterness hits the end and the finish is quite clean.
