I’ve had this a few times already and I have enjoyed it, but have not rated it until now. A fair amount of light fruits and brett in the nose, smells very inviting. Golden color, nice clarity and a one fingered, off white head. There is some honey, lightly toasted malt, black pepper-ish spiciness and a nice amount of distinct barnyardy brett. I remember thinking that the brett was very forward in the past, but it seems well integrated in this beer. Due to the fact that the brett was added before bottling, the brett character was there once the beer was released and a 4 month old bottle of this has the brett character of an ~18mo old Orval. A nice beer, I’ll try to age my last two for a little longer so I can see how this beer changes.

The aroma is lemon, orange peel, grapefruit skin, fresh cut grass, a touch of grains and floral hops. Lots going on in the aroma. The taste is similar and pretty bright with lemon acidity, some orange peel and grapefruit, grassy meadow, graininess and some floral hops. It ends thin and watery and mildly refreshing. | 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Dec 26, 2009 I think I’ve found the first New Glarus beer that I did not enjoy. It had to have been the brett because to me, it basically smelled like a urinal in the men’s room and Band-Aid’s. Nothing that I’ve ever smelled before that I would think "oh, that’s definitely a brett characteristic". A nice golden orange body, slightly hazy with a 1" off-white fluffy head. Tasted extremely dry, in fact I can’t recall many other beers this dry except for a few RR beers. Puckering tartness, lemony with some medicinial bitterness. It was hard enough to choke down 250 ml of this, let alone a whole bottle (which I didn’t have to do). bvc (349), Kenmore, Washington, USA

Nose is really just a shit ton of Brett. Dry, wheaty, chaulky, light white wine grape. Body and carbonation is lighter than I was anticipating. Sweet bretty, lemon, wheat, chaulky dry woodiness. Just a huge Brett bomb. dnstone (277), Mons, Belgium

Nose is lemon, malt, tang, horse blanket, funk, and brett. Flavor is like a bretted Golden Ale. I really like the ale that is trying to push through, but I am not a huge fan of the infection. Medium body and pretty good overall. TURDFERGUSON (1608), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA

Nose is bright with very noticeable brett character, also peach, pineapple, and hay. Flavor is pleasant and dry, but ends rather abruptly. BelgianBeerGal (1324), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Pours brown/orange colur with a khaki head. Sticky, foamy head with bubbly lacing. Nice aroma of citrus hops and some pineapple with a faint hint of Brett and cherries. Flavour dominated by the hops and not much malt at all. Touch of metal in the quick, dry finish. Pretty true to form for the style and glad I got to try this. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 17, 2009 Bottle thanks to brian23456 (BA)! Bubbling gold with a large, frothy white head. Nose has noticeable marriage of hop and brett, edging on bandage with some light caramel and juicy mango notes tucked deep. Flavor comes watery and odd, very muted: fruit and brett still there, just everything washed out. At room temp it gets better with elements emerging, but consistency lacks and it picks up a detergent note. Full body, could use a little more carbonation. I’m a sucker for brett + hops so I enjoy this a lot, and this one shows nice balance, particularly with the fruity undercurrent.
