Pours a deep dark largely clear dark reddish hue, a touch of copper, but very burnt red with moderate reddish head that dissipates to a small amount and laces. Aromas are nice aromatic raspberry, light sourness and sweetness, with a natural feel. Initial is lightly tart, nice tannin like feel, moving to mixing tart and sweet natural raspberry, light maltiness, but largely natural raspberry with little yeast or malt. Sweet and tart, light carbonation, creating a balance that prevents cloying qualitiws. Hard to drink a ton of this, but a well executed fruit beer that is considerably different that the typical fare. Nice. meisterbrauMHB (53), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA

Sweet and juicy raspberry aroma with a hint of yeast. Tastes like straight up raspberry juice with a hint of citrus to sour it up. I still prefer Belgian Red, but this one is mighty tasty too. No one does fruit beers like NG. changeup45 (791), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 5, 2009 Courtesy of pfoxyjohn. Pours a crimson color with a thin pink head. A crazy amount of fresh raspberries in this, sweet and tart but neither overly done and a nice balance of the two. Very soft on the palate and a little bit of malt behind it. Actually, this is incredibly thick, it tastes like they mashed an insane amount of raspberries in this. Quite tasty. One of the better fruit beers I’ve had and a style I’m starting to enjoy a little more now than I once did. Thanks pfoxyjohn! garmonbozia (229), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA

Very enjoyable and pronounced raspberry aroma . Fruit juice in appearance with a thin head and ample fruit bouquet. Tart but balanced with natural sweet and ale drinkability. npcraig (12), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Both this and the Belgian Red are great. This one I perhaps enjoyed more because it did not affect my stomach, but I did not let that impact my rating of the Belgian Red because the beers are similar so it may have been the day. It tastes like raspberries, it smells like must and raspberries and the nose is all raspberries. Looks like raspberry juice with a thin wisp of pink head. Finishes clean with almost a salty note.
