Thick dark pink head on a red beer. At first raspberry jam nose then deeper like cooking raspberries before it gets to be jam. Pure raspberry juice. No alcohol presence. Just fresh raspberry taste. Leaves tart seeds in your teeth. A sipper.
Had a large bottle back home. A thinner body. More like beer. Even nice when warmed in the microwave. DuffMan (2769), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada

Pours a deep murky maroon with a fizzy pink head. The carbonation is champagne-like and tickles your nose as you contemplate the aroma. This smells like you’ve picked up a handful of fresh raspberries and crushed them in your fist-- fresh, sour, juicy. Pure raspberry juiciness dominates the palate, but it is far from one-dimensional. Several key elements elevate this beer into something unique and special-- a fresh sour-tartness that perfectly balances the fruit juice sweetness; an ephemeral stemmy-leafy quality that imparts both an earthiness and a bitterness that keep this tasting real and not candyish, and most importantly the delicate and lively carbonation keeps it alive on the tongue. This style is hit-and-miss for me, but this is definitely among the finest fruit beers I have ever had, and one that is worth seeking out. I agree with presario that this would be fun to try mulled, and then on another occasion, over ice. TipsyMcStager (928), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Pure raspberry sweetness with tartness. Carbonation expands the flavour experience. World class for the style. hair-old (137), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

years ago.The only solution to the
many brews of New Glarus is to
vacation there.The owner is proud
of his brews and it shows when
you see copper kettles polished to
look like solid gold.My memories of
this quaint village will last an eternity. valpoaj (363), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 24, 2007 Deep crimson pour with very minimal head. Aroma is intense raspberry, but lessens with time... Very sweet raspberry flavor is not fake in the least...rather it is natural and balanced by a nice, smooth tartness that mellows the initial sugar flavor. Good, moderate level of carbonation and an extremely pleasant aftertaste...nothing bitter like other fruit beers. I had high expectations when I picked this one up at the New Glarus brewery in WI, and all expectations were met. This is the first fruit beer that is not fake in the least, but rather one you can enjoy from first sip to last! xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 22, 2007 Red body with small pink head. Aroma is pure raspberries but unlike other fruit beers it begs you to drink it. Med body with nice carb, a nice fresh, sweet rasberries taste fills the mouth but is quickly met with a tartness that is unlike most anything you’ll try. Perfect with choclate brownies. I actually prefer this over the Belgium red. Wisconsin (15), live oak, Florida, USA

Sour aroma of raspberries, lemon, and yeast. Nice rich, medium mouthfeel with fine carbonation. Initial flavor is sweet with notes of raspberry and rhubarb pie. The middle has some faint oak. Very tart with a subtle touch of hops. The carbonation has a fine spritziness as it goes down. Very nice beer. Drinking a whole bottle by yourself is not easy for me, as this is a bit rich and sweet. How about putting those is 12 ounce bottles? I still think the Belgian Red is the better of the two.
