Commercial Description:
The voluminous raspberry bouquet will greet you long before your lips touch your glass. Serve this Wisconsin framboise very cold in a champagne flute. Then hold your glass to a light and enjoy the jewel-like sparkle of a very special ale. Oregon proudly shares their harvest of mouth-watering berries, which we ferment spontaneously in large oak vats. Then we employ Wisconsin farmed wheat and year old Hallertau hops to round out this extravaganza of flavor.

Red body with small pink head. Aroma is pure raspberries but unlike other fruit beers it begs you to drink it. Med body with nice carb, a nice fresh, sweet rasberries taste fills the mouth but is quickly met with a tartness that is unlike most anything you’ll try. Perfect with choclate brownies. I actually prefer this over the Belgium red.

Bottle from Kevin. Pours a muddy plum, with a diminishing tan head. Sour aroma of raspberries, lemon, and yeast. Nice rich, medium mouthfeel with fine carbonation. Initial flavor is sweet with notes of raspberry and rhubarb pie. The middle has some faint oak. Very tart with a subtle touch of hops. The carbonation has a fine spritziness as it goes down. Very nice beer. Drinking a whole bottle by yourself is not easy for me, as this is a bit rich and sweet. How about putting those is 12 ounce bottles? I still think the Belgian Red is the better of the two.

The raspberry aromas waft up almost as soon as I open this. Smells of sweet raspberry jam, and like some kind of raspberry-lemonade. Pours blood colored with pink lacing. The tartness comes thru more in the taste and quickly follows the sweet raspberry flavor. An effervescent like carbonation, like a sparkling wine, tingles on the tongue and hits in the back of the throat. Not an everyday drinker, this bottle is definitely one I would share, but well balanced flavors and a great experience.

From a 750mL Bottle. Pours a mostly transparent, deep crimson color with shades of black cherry and a thin layer of foamy ivory head. Beautiful aroma of freshly picked raspberries, over-ripe and gushing with juice. Sweet, but authentic and has a subtle seed-like herbal woody quality to it that’s quite nice. Rich raspberries, but not a whole lot of other dimensions. Medium bodied, sparkling mouthfeel. Not sticky or cloying, but definitely too sweet for my palate, and gives this beer a bit of a one-dimensional quality. Lots of sweet raspberries at first, quite delicious, and then the flavors fade to the promise of some cidery funk. A little bit of woody, funky spice, but not dry enough to enhance this quality fully. The finish actually reminds me quite a bit of the unplugged enigma, without the raspberry residue of course. Delicious raspberry aroma and flavor, but the palate could be a bit dryer and funkier to help develop more complexity. Fantastic beer, but too sweet for my tastes to give a higher overall score. Definitely worth having on hand to pair with berry desserts in small portions. Thanks, Tom!

Bottle: Pours a nice deep ruby/purple topped by a bubbly, khaki-colored head. One of the most purely fruity aromas in beer. Just like a fresh jar of homemade raspberry preserves, straight up! Amazingly fruity flavor as well, almost sorbet like with an acidic hint to balance the fruity viscosity. I was in disbelief that this is only 4% ABV because of the richness in flavor and body. Has a very natural feel, and an almost cleansing/refreshing power. Very interesting and rich fruit beer made for moderation.

Deep garnet coloured beer, thick pink head. Sweet, juicy, fresh raspberry aroma. Smells just like a bottle of raspberry jam. Even the seeds which add a sort of woodiness that is usually missing from syrup-based beers, is present here. Sweet, fruity flavour with loads of juicy raspberry character, a touch of tartness that really sets off the fruitiness of the beer. Palate is quite good with the barest hint of maltiness serving as a backing note to the intense fruitiness. Perhaps the least beer-like beer I’ve had to date, reminding me more of some of the raspberry wines and ports that I’ve had before. Warming brings out the malt aspects a bit more than they first appeared. Great balance and an awesome beer.
