Commercial Description:
The voluminous raspberry bouquet will greet you long before your lips touch your glass. Serve this Wisconsin framboise very cold in a champagne flute. Then hold your glass to a light and enjoy the jewel-like sparkle of a very special ale. Oregon proudly shares their harvest of mouth-watering berries, which we ferment spontaneously in large oak vats. Then we employ Wisconsin farmed wheat and year old Hallertau hops to round out this extravaganza of flavor.

Pours a dark blood red with a frothy pink head. If it wasnt for the foam I would think it was wine in my glass. Intense raspberry sour smell, very thick. I knew this one was gonna be something special. The taste was even more intense, very thick, kind of explodes in your mouth and makes it pucker up as its not ready for the tannins. Kind of tastes like a sweet tart. Very sweet and sugary, finish is long and stays on the tongue and the sides of the mouth. Very unique and interesting beer. it was a nice treat.

Cold wax capped 750ml bottle from 2003: Pours a clear dark amber color with minor light tan bubbles around edges. Aroma is of raspberry, light grains and wood notes. Taste is of raspberry and light grains with sweet and tart notes. Light to medium bodied with fizzy mouthfeel. Ending is of tart raspberry.

Poured into a champagne flute, this beer is deep red - almost the same color as beet juice actually. Very fizzy carbonation gives it a brief but tall (at least 2") head of very pink foam. The aroma is like raspberry pie filling. The flavor is more of that raspberry pie filling - thich and potently full of raspberry and more raspberry. The raspberry flavor is both tart and sweet, both fresh and baked, and absolutely natural. Perhaps its my imagination, perhaps its the color, but I also taste just a hint of beet in there too. That’s it - all fruity. Bold, full, and flavorful. The fizzy champagne-like carbonation is a nice touch. A great beer!

Deep rubin red body, huge pink head; Great nose, lots of raspberry, some oak, rot and a very little hop sack; Small amount of sharp sparkle in body, soft very pleasant texture, some sweetness and loads of lactic and acetic acid; The acids explodes when the beer is swallowed, a short very pleasant explosion that is soon taken over by lots of raspberry fruity acidity, soft textured with lots of aroma. Super, super beer that actually has a few lambic elements to it. Thanks iowaherkeye!!!

Bottle @ January DMBT. Man, these New Glarus guys are masters at the fruit beers. This is sweet, with a bit of sourness to it, but the balance is remarkable. Not quite as good as the Belgian Red, but very very good.

750ml bottle curtesy of Naven, thanks for bringing this gem. Beer 4 of the Bartzilla’s Death Metal Beer Tasting 1/12/2007, consumed with many great beer drinkers including Bartzilla, Naven, as well as Lee creator of Arrogant Bastard, and a really cool guy. This is a fantastic fruit beer, it is sweet and sour and really evokes rasberries almost better than the fruit itself. I’ve been really excited to try this beer for a a while, and it tastes great. While we were drinking this someone said it tasted like flinstones vitatmins, and really it sort of does, it has a taste that resembles that but it is not chalky or concentrated in any way, it is a really fantastic brew that I feel lucky to have had.

Like all NG, this one is way overrated. Everything about this beer is artificial. I know they use real raspeberry, but sure dont tsate like it. Tastes like flat redpop. MMMMM, faygo. I agree, similar to Lindemans crap.

First of all, a big thanks to mwsf for this bottle. Massive raspberry flavor. Pretty tart as well. A little chocolate. Clearly a hell of a lot of fresh raspberries are used in this. It’s sweet and with a delicate sourness. Similar to a flemish sour, but with a ton of fruit. I enjoy it until the pure raspberry flavor in the finish. I guess now’s the time to point out that I’m not a huge fan of raspberries in general, but I’m still enjoying this.
