pepsican (777), the beer wastelands of, Iowa, USA Feb 24, 2008 Updated: Feb 25, 2008 Pours a deep blood red with a large red head. Huge raspberry aroma. Flavor is tart raspberry, some malt, other dark fruit, more raspberry. Sour finish, decent carbonation. This beer is great for sharing as an after dinner desert. Very interesting. I always find the top half of the bottle to be much more tart, and the lower half to be a bit sweeter. Seems like each glass is like that as well. I pour and share according to peoples taste. A bit of age takes some edge off of the sweet as well.
CanIHave4Beers (235), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Nov 21, 2008 Back in the day I was a fiend for the raspberry beers, a lot has changed since those days. But one thing has not; this was then and remains to be a favorite of mine. The beer pours a beautiful light purple with a large lasting pink head. Aroma is of fresh raspberries, a faint oak, and yeasty funk. The taste is remarkably tart and slightly sour and dominated by the fruit accented by yeast and very light malt. The beer is well rounded and has a sharp initial mouthfeel.
Oh, and this was also served at my wedding too.
BuckeyeSammy (397), New York City, New York, USA Nov 19, 2008 Deep purple color, true purple foam head. Great fruit beer, share with a mate. Too sugary, sweet tasting. Its raspberry and tart, period. A rare treat, glad to open with sleepy the night he takes the reigns at Ginger Man. ericandersnavy (191), denton, Texas, USA Nov 19, 2008 bottle thanks to BMan1113VR and shared with swalden 28. poured a reddish brown with a pinkish/beige head. aroma was that of rasberry and some liquid smoke. flavor was rasberry and some cranberry as well. this was my first sour and i enjoyed it greatly. thanks Bman for this one!!
