Commercial Description:
This dark ale is a hearty and satisfying reward for those of us who embrace the frozen tundra. Uncut oatmeal fresh from Chilton, Wisconsin gives this Stout a "sink into it" smoothness that slides you into its depth. Handcrafted English Chocolate malt and Wisconsin Victory malt combine to balance this robust ale. Expect this ale to pour a luxurious rich head over a rich black ruby body. The powerful malt bouquet will greet you as you tip this silky smoothness from your glass. Our Oatmeal Stout is handcrafted in the time-honored traditions. Serve just above room temperature and relax -- road construction season will soon return.

Black. Thin brown foam lasts but a minute before slipping to a fluffy collar ring. Minimal lace sticks as most of the residue glides back into the liquid. Nice aroma of dark chocolate oatmeal cookies; fluffy and fresh with a slight burnt sugar base and some warming alcohol to it. Taste is about the same. Minor chocolate fluff with a slightly charred oaty tone with a pleasingly clean robust fashion to its flavors. Smooth and very rounded and a simple finish of creamy cocoa. Feel is soft and creamy smooth with a nice reducing texture of chocolate and oaty fluff with a simple floating dryness. Yum! I like this Oaty stout. A solid drinker and a keeper from NG.

12 oz bottle with gputty. Sable with a beige ring of a head. Big coffee nose, a strange vegetable undertone that really distracts. Flavor follows the nose, I just keep getting this nasty vegetable tinge behind the other flavors. Dusty, dry finish. Would have scored MUCH better if not for the veg notes.

Thanks to iowaherkeye for this one. Black pour, fairly large head with good lacing. Aroma is bitter roast, oats, coffee and lesser notes of chocolate and caramel. Medium bodied with a watery texture, more bitter than sweet due to the dark malts. Nice.

From bottle thanks to Monger. Pours black with tan head. Nose is sweet coffee with rotten vegetables underneath. Flavor is bitter chocolate with a sourish aftertaste. Palate is medium thickness and smooth. Really some odd stuff in this one.

Sampled at the Odds and Ends Tasting at Dogbrick’s. Black with a tan head. Aroma and flavor of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Pretty good.

Aroma of chocolate and plums. Appears an opaque brown-black with red on the edges and with a creamy brown head. Flavor is roast goodness over chocolate and ending with a sharp acidic bite. Palate is medium-dry with appropriate effervescence. Overall, an excellent stout, though a bit dry for its style.
