Commercial Description:
This dark ale is a hearty and satisfying reward for those of us who embrace the frozen tundra. Uncut oatmeal fresh from Chilton, Wisconsin gives this Stout a "sink into it" smoothness that slides you into its depth. Handcrafted English Chocolate malt and Wisconsin Victory malt combine to balance this robust ale. Expect this ale to pour a luxurious rich head over a rich black ruby body. The powerful malt bouquet will greet you as you tip this silky smoothness from your glass. Our Oatmeal Stout is handcrafted in the time-honored traditions. Serve just above room temperature and relax -- road construction season will soon return.

12 oz. Bottle. Aroma was a medium sweet roasted malt. Black body with dark chocolate head. Medium bodied with sweet roast and slight bitterness. Somewhat of a dry palate. Decent brew.

Bottled. Thinner stout, with a quickly-gone head. Deep brown color. Not the best Stout I’ve ever had, but easily drinkable and roasty flavors. Good.

Bottle poured black with a thick but not a very long lasting head. Roasty malt aroma. Flavor is roasty chocolate and coffee. Body is a bit thin with a roasty cofee finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown coffee color with a nice tan creamy head and some light lacing. Aroma of roasted hops chocolate and coffee. Taste of bitter dark chocolate and a bit of alcohol. Nice mouthfeel, slightly thick with a nice smooth sweet finish. A very good, well balanced stout IMHO.

Thanks to Suttree and MrFacto for bottles of this one! Pours with a huge head of light brown over an opaque black body. Smoky roast aroma. The flavor is bitter, lightly acidic with some sweetness for balance. Light palate with some ashyness in the finish.

Bottle thanks to hopscotch: Pours to a black body with a small tan head. Aroma is coffee, mocha, and light roasted malts. Taste is light coffee, mocha, bitter, bakers chocolate, tons of chocolate but still bitter. Light-medium, slightly water body (another water stout from New Glarus here).

I had intended on having another Stout for number 500 but I can’t think of a better brand than New Glarus to annoint this milestone. This is definitely a sweet stout, very smooth, black glass liquid with big flavor and served up at its optimum temperature makes for gourmet slushing. Big sweet chocolate flavor no part of this beer overpowers but it lets you know its there. Great Beer to christen my 500th!!!

Poured very, very, dark brown with a smallish lead and nice lacing. Aroma was a light malty chocolate one that could have been stronger. Nice roastiness that comes through. Sweet but not too sweet flavor. Very nice mouth feel.
