Commercial Description:
This dark ale is a hearty and satisfying reward for those of us who embrace the frozen tundra. Uncut oatmeal fresh from Chilton, Wisconsin gives this Stout a "sink into it" smoothness that slides you into its depth. Handcrafted English Chocolate malt and Wisconsin Victory malt combine to balance this robust ale. Expect this ale to pour a luxurious rich head over a rich black ruby body. The powerful malt bouquet will greet you as you tip this silky smoothness from your glass. Our Oatmeal Stout is handcrafted in the time-honored traditions. Serve just above room temperature and relax -- road construction season will soon return.

Bottle. Dark translucent brown body with islands of bubble films. Nose-sweet coffe and trees. Taste-bitter iced coffee, light mint, burnt, light caramel, maybe some anise and vanilla. Very well rounded and enjoyable.

Provided by Hopscotch. Dark brown body with tan head. The aroma is coffee, smokey, vanilla and chocolate. The flavor is vanilla and molases, but thin. Thin, watery body.

bottle thanks to Duane i believe...pour is beautiful, a jet black body with a thick brown head. hints of mahogany around the edges of the glass, but light doesnt pass through the murkiness of the body. lots of chocolate in the nose, a hint of vanilla, and a nice burnt malt background. the burnt flavor and the chocolate are the mainstays of the flavor. this is a very sweet tasting beer, the body is what i have come to expect from NG, that is, it is slightly fizzy in my mouth, as opposed to slick and silky. the aftertaste is excellent, as the chocolate and vanilla linger behind from each mouthfull. an excellent beer, if it were a smoother feel, it would be exceptional, imo

Thick and hugely roasty aroma with strong notes of chocolate and licorice. Opaque brown body is topped by a decent and lasting fine bubbled head. Strong roast and chocolate in the flavour along with some pleasant hop character and fairly strong bitterness. Soft texture to the lively, fine bubbled carbonation. Bottle enjoyed with with MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere.

Pretty good. Cant say the name exactly makes you want to shotgun a six pack of this, be that as it may, the beer inside the bottle is a very good stout, and new glarus has yet to let me down. Depsite what it says about serviing at room temp, i drank it ice cold, and that seemed fine to me. Very dark and tasty and smoooooooth.

Brownish black. Sticky puff of sustained beige foam. Richly roasty malts generate robust notes of coffee and smoke. Hints of toffee drizzled nuts and nougat. Softly carbonated. Opens with an amplified metallic tingle which immediately tries to lighten the heavy malt impact, but the ample malt and carbonic softness keep it at bay. Coffee continually gains definition and rids the palate of the sogginess by contributing a dry sharpness. Deeply-rooted velvety smoke barely manages to emerge from the depths of sweetness. Sogginess soon prevails, however, and ends up muting the more vivid malt elements. Lurking sharp roast comes and goes in a flash, due to the ever building sogginess. The persistent richness climaxes at the finish, and though the soggy graininess sticks around, the astringent char does an okay job at thwarting it. Has a nice aroma, but the flavor lacks brightness and is plagued by too much sogginess, as is the case with so many stouts. Lots of potential here, as the coffee and smokiness are seductively deep and sublime. It just fails to come together in the end.

Black, tan creamy head. Dense aromas of dark roastiness, and milk chocolate, with very soft touches of french vanilla coffee and toast. Flavor is lightly burnt and bitter up front, but it slowly evolves into tones of tangy coffee and roasted milk chocolate. Light to medium bodied, fizzy carbonation, bittersweet finish. Decent stout and worth a try....
