Commercial Description:
This dark ale is a hearty and satisfying reward for those of us who embrace the frozen tundra. Uncut oatmeal fresh from Chilton, Wisconsin gives this Stout a "sink into it" smoothness that slides you into its depth. Handcrafted English Chocolate malt and Wisconsin Victory malt combine to balance this robust ale. Expect this ale to pour a luxurious rich head over a rich black ruby body. The powerful malt bouquet will greet you as you tip this silky smoothness from your glass. Our Oatmeal Stout is handcrafted in the time-honored traditions. Serve just above room temperature and relax -- road construction season will soon return.

Pretty good brew... Not spectacular but good... Sort of Guinness like but maybe a little tastier...

Bottle from Steve’s. Black, somewhat thin white head. Nose is deeply roasted malt, a small amount of burnt malt, woody fruit pits. All of that is balanced by chocolaty (almost minty) hops. Flavor is chocolate, more highly roasted malt. There is more of that burnt malt adding a welcome crispness. A little toffee and chocolate comes in at the finish, perfectly balanced by the hops. I think this is the last bottle of standard NG beer I brought back from my trip & it is by far the best. I’d be very happy to get this locally.

Poured deep amber with little head. Aroma was faint, mainly coffee and a hint of malt. Taste started sweet with some coffee, licorace and oats. Some bitterness as it warmed. Maybe a bit thin for a stout.

Pours a dark brown with a diminshing off-white head. Nice lacings. Quite sweet with mild aromas of coffee and chocolate. Also some caramel. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Mellow finish with hints of toasted coffee.

This beer didn’t really strike me as a stout - it seemed more akin to a brown ale. It had a lot of caramel taste and some copper color. Not bad, but not much unusual about it. It poured a copper color with a bit of head. Aroma was of some caramel and earthiness; not a lot of roasty character. Flavor was a bit coppery/metallic with lots of body and a fair amount of caramel-ness and with a finish that was a bit earthy. I didn’t taste any evidence of the presence of oatmeal or pick it up in the mouthfeel, which was unremarkable. This beer was OK, but nothing too unusual. I’d weekly recommend it. I bought this as a single bottle at 3 Cellars in Franklin, WI.

12 oz bottle. Simple aroma of light coffee and roasted malt. Pours a dark brown with a thin white head. Flavor has some mild coffee notes. Toasted bready malt. Cocoa powder. Toasted nuts. Faint grassy hops. Fairly lean but slightly silky. Mild bitter finish. Thanks Kan!
