Commercial Description:
This authentic amber Irish ale is slow brewed with a blend of three malted barleys and finished with four varieties of hops. Then we dry-hopped in the lager tank to add a spicy note to warm your winter evenings. Expect this beer to be a beautiful copper-red, with a fruity ale body and a spiced hop finish.

Pours a light amber with quite a bit of cream-colored head. Aroma is of caramel, toast and malts. Flavor is malt, a bit spicy definite hops. Mouth was watery and light. Just not very excited about this beer.

Pours a clear amber with a thin white head and a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is slightly hoppy, bread, and dark fruit with a hint of caramel. I understand people talking about the spicy hop taste but I could sum it up with: pistachio. It really caught me off guard but it tastes like slightly ripe pistachios. Different.

Did you ever see the movie "Idiocracy?" In it, Luke Wilson is selected for an Army experiment because he is the most perfectly average man in the Army. That’s what I felt Snowshoe was...if I were to pick a totally average craft beer, this would be it. It wasn’t bad, but there just wasn’t much to get excited about or set it apart from other middle-of-the-road ales. It was an amber-orange color, with a mostly clear but not brilliant color. Head was medium. Aroma was faint and very lightly hoppy, balanced with some malt. Nothing in particular stood out. Flavor was the same. Pleasant, but far from extraordinary. Mouthfeel was decent, but what you might expect from an amber. I liked this beer, but it seemed totally average to me. But it seems like lately I’ve had a lot of below average beers, so I’m happy to celebrate average. I had this in a bottle at Comet Cafe in Milwaukee.

Clear amber color with an off-white head with good retention and lacing. Spicy notes of pine needles and maybe even some spruce and a little bit of caramel. Same spicy notes, almost a pepper-like flavor if that makes sense. Pine and spruce and maybe some toffee. Fairly light body with lighter than medium carbonation. Decent beer, a good one to have a few of; glad to see it back. I’d actually rate the appearance 4.5, and the palate 3.5 if I could, so I’ll bump the overall up a point from normal.

Aroma is very mild, whats coming through is floral American hops perhaps some malt backing, taste is mild surprise red sucker initial sweetness, peppery hops, but wow ,it all drys outand disappears very quickly, leaving a slight German bitterness on the tongue, Has a slight carbonic bite on to it. Light and pleasant, would be a better summer quencher. Big time minus points for naming this Snow Shoe, there is nothing wintry about it

12oz bottle, courtesy of mj. Thanks, Mike! Pours a clear, bold orange-amber color; bright off-white head with excellent retention and intricate lacing patterns. Earthy and spicy hops, caramelized sugar, and wet malts in the aroma. Medium mouthfeel: plenty of wet malts, earthiness (from both malts and hops), with a light spiciness; pleasant feel in the mouth; average carbonation; some dried fruits and additional sugars coming through in the finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with a thin off white head. Aromas of spiced fruit, caramel, earth. Taste of caramel, spice, pine. Real earthy. Medium bodied, lively carbonation. Not bad for my not so favorite style.

Bottled. Poured clear, sparkly medium orange with about 1.5" of creamy beige head. The aroma picked up sweet lighter fruits, caramel, and nutty sweetness with earth and pine undertones.. enjoyed it, but the nose was very weak. The flavor had a sweet core of drawn caramel, chocolate, and brown sugar with nice doses of pine, herbal, and earthy bitterness around the edges.. the earthy and pine bitterness carry through the medium-length finish along with some fruity sweetness.. tasty! Lighter-bodied with too much carbonation on the palate.. well-balanced and refreshing in the end. Solid brew.
