Taste comes across with malt, hops, and a little caramel and finishes with a bitterness. Not the worst I’ve had but very drinkable. Brigadier (1246), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

Thanks to Jason for hooking me up with a few of these. It makes moving much easier knowing I can always get hooked up with a hometown favorite. This was pretty standard fare for Dan Carey and crew. It was hard to get excited about it other than perhaps to try a "new" release. It is doubtful I’ll try to get any more but if you like to keep tabs on the latest out of Green County don’t hesitate to track some down.
Aroma / Appearance - A one finger head was the color of muddy snow the day after light rain. Underneath was a typical looking bronze colored body livened by hints of carbonation. The nose was a mixture of nuttiness and pine resin with a malty base. The yeastiness stood out in a way that didn’t improve things.
Flavor / Palate - The fluid mouthfeel reminded me of vanilla ice cream with caramel glazing. Maple syrup over plain pancakes came next before the bitter finish. This was easy to drink and perfect for a day when two feet of snow fell. I’ll be glad to finish my remaining bottles but after that this one can go back into the archives for another few years. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Pours a crystal clear, medium orange amber color. A small, foamy, off-whit head settles to a thin film, with trace amounts of delicate ribbon lacing left on the glass. Aromas show dry grains, ligtly toasted caramel malts, toasted bread, and mild floral hops. Flavors are nearly identical, with dry grains dominating the mild caramel and floral hops. There is a lactic creaminess, which adds a smoothing element. Medium to light bodied, the brew finishes slightly sour and quite dry. I love New Glarus, but this is about as run-of-the-mill as it gets. Nothing special here. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 3, 2008 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Bob McFarland Liquors in McFarland, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of multi-grain caramel malt, some flowery and citrus hops, a touch of pear and dark/dark pitted fruits. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation, flavors of dry roasted caramel malt, a touch of roasted nuts, apple core, and a touch of citrus zest. Finish is slightly dry, a hint of fruit character with a mild bitterness after the finish. Bockyhorsey (2552), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Birthday present amber body with mahagany hue and decent head. Spotty lacing left on glass. Aroma and flavor were basicly the same medium sweet fruity malt. Somewhat sticky sweet candy sucker aftertaste on palate. Good brew with dinner. undsioux7 (561), Cologne, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 28, 2008 Pours clear amber/copper with a white head. Pretty basic subduded aroma of cereal and slight hop. Taste is roughly the same. Easy drinker. RustedHalo (11), USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Feb 26, 2008 Updated: Mar 26, 200812 oz bottle. Pours a delightful muted ruby, thick and cloudy. Aroma is nothing special; grains and cereals with the slightest hint of fruit (apple probably). Flavor is acceptable, but not great. Malts are nondescript, and the beer is very bready overall. Mouthfeel is quite good, lively at first taste fading into a dry finish. Not the best New Glarus beer by far, but not bad.
