The aroma was great: banana and clove. The taste was very similar with some yeast flavours added in to make it almost like banana bread. Very good. jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 20, 2004 Cloudy hazy body with golden yellow body leaning towards orange. Moderate white head. Yeast and orangey citrus in the armoa. Alcohol is more evident in the nose than i would have expected. Fairly subtle aroma foreshadows the subtlety of the flavour. Pleast yeastiness, with subtle touches of citrus with a lingering banana or tiny bubblegum in the aftertaste. Notes of pear at times? Palate is not as chewy as some but still delightfully smooth. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2004 Uncharacteristic(of a Weizen) small white head with a short life, shame. Orange color with a white haze setting it off. Big bananna nose, yeasty, fruity, nice. Med/light body, nice creaminess. Plenty of fruity, bananna flavors backed by touch of hops. Finish is dry with a light breadyness and some citrus notes, nice weizen! Thanks to MrFacto! Falconseye8 (525), Cartersville, Georgia, USA

Great beers don’t come around too often. This is one of those times. Now is time for the #2 German Hefeweizen on the site. Perfect German Hefe!!!! Spicy, lemony, good hops/malts. Great freaking beer!!!! Best of this style to date. I haven’t rated anything over 4.0 looks like that is about to end. Smooth very drinkable, great beer!!!! Numero Primo in my book amongst this style. I don’t know if its possible for anything to be better. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Sweet orange-zest, wheaty effervescence, wrapped with hints of cloves and light pepper. Moist palate with mushy bananas, cracked pepper, light nutmeg and cloves, as well as a nice rye/wheat mix. Very solid, wonderfully drinkable and would be even better out on the patio on a warm summer eve. IndianaRed (1560), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 5, 2004 Bottle Pours a pale hazy light amber with a modest off white head and light sticky lacing. Aroma is the spice, clove, slightly sweet notes that I am recognizing in this style. Flavor is consistant with the aromas, but not as strong. Slightly metalic like when you bite on a piece of tin-foil, pale lightl wheat, and somehow dusty. Very lisht and pleasant. The feel is awsome. Like tasting a feather pillow. Soft, light smooth, no bite or bitter in the trailer. My preference is not the clove like flavor but this is a ver tasty "peacefull" beer that is very easy to drink. Thanks to MrFacto for the trade. bjstokes (1), Evanston, Illinois, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 30, 2004 This beer inspired my *first ever* beer rating...long-time reader, first-time writer. I am a huge fan of the style and really enjoy what Hacker-Pschorr is doing with Weiss. This one is actually not as good as the Hacker-Pschorr hefe weiss (one of my all-time favorites). Where does the head go so quickly? It looks like a great head at first, but then you look away for a second and it’s gone. It should last longer. The aroma is great...banana as it should be. And this has a great thick feel all the way through (although it should be thinner). But as much as I like New Glarus, this offering loses just a few points because of its ending. The start is great with a strong blast of banana and toffee and nutmeg, but then fades rather quickly and gives way to the nutmeg, less banana, and a bit of bitterness. A true wheat should not have bitterness in the aftertaste. The bitterness is nicer if you keep it in your mouth for a few seconds (swish it, baby!). Overall, a great beer, and another impressive output via Dan Carey at New Glarus. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Fresh aroma with a little banana and spice. Well rounded full flavor. Good mouthfeel and finish. Well made or just fresher than all of the German ones I’ve had.
