Deep cloudy orange with avg-sized head that is mostly lasting. Champagne-like visible carbonation. A little darker in color than some German weissbiers. Flavor is well done. Richly wheaty and certainly not obvious that this is made by an American brewer. Very enjoyable. Has some bite, which keeps things interesting, but still gets full points for palate. A real winner of an effort by the folks at New Glarus. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 14, 2003 Color is the usual pale gold yellow but the cloudyness I expect to see is nearly gone, its lightly hazy and clearish in tone with a fluffy tall white head that fades to a thin ring always present and no real lace sticks at all. Smell is nice and spicy, good sense of dulled lemon and wheatyness, touch of banana with a nice lay of spicy lemon peels and clove. Taste is nearly the same as what comes across in the smell with good amounts of lemon and banana mixed with a wheaty sweetness and frothy teture with a soild clove/peppered spice that sticks with a lingering quality thats a touch souring and spiced of lemon and clove. Feel is close to medium, quite smooth throughout and slides right down making for some good drinkin'. A fairly good, middle of the road hefe that would cover for any hefe fix if needed. Lace appears in sheets. The aroma is of strong banana. The flavor is very good for a Weiss with strong banana and a hint of cloves. The palate is nice and rich for a Weiss. Overall, one of the best Hefeweizens I’ve had. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 22, 2003 Great aroma - mostly banana - real banana, not that imitation stuff - and also a little herbal. Flavor is smooth, sweet, tangy, lemony and dry and spciced at the end. Great stuff - thanks Rockinout! Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2003 Pours with a very cloudy golden body topped by a thin to medium thick white quickly disappearing head with some lacing. Slightly sweet banana aroma with notes of yeast and wheat and a touch of lemon. Slightly sweet lemony wheat matl flavor with banana notes and yeasty accents. Light bodied, smooth and crisp. Wow, a wheat that I actually enjoyed. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 6, 2003 Really enjoyed this one; nice foamy head with a cloudy appearance that lets you know you're getting a lot of goodies in the beer. Pretty typical hefeweizen flavor, I think ( = tasty!). Rockinout (946), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 24, 2003 One of the cloudiest beers I have seen. Looks thick. Bananas dominate the nose, very inviting. Starts smooth and creamy on the palate then gets crisp. Ring of tiny bubbles in the head. Clean finish. Wow!
