Low bitterness and hops. Light neutral fruit. Medium golden clear with slight haze, topped with almost no head. Medium watery body with medium-high carbonation and light carbonic gaseousness. A very mild ale, with light sweetness, fairly clean throughout. Very little bitterness or hop character to this one. Finish is a bit corny and sweet. Mediocre but not bad.

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Pours a very light yellow color, lots of sediment and foamy white head. Aroma is mellow and sweet with a little funk. Taste is creamy and sweet, lots of corn flavor; tastes like creamed corn. Don’t like this one too much...main complaint is how unbalanced it is. Very low hops to balance out the sweetness. Only brew from New Glarus I’ve had that wasn’t very good. Then again, I hadn’t tried more than 1% of the available ale selection on the planet. Despite my dismissal of SC as "Saison for Ice Fishermen," there will always be a soft spot in my heart for this ale, even though the palate fades the second it stacks against a hotter, more "dank" farmhouse offering. Full disclosure, I volunteered as a Brew Crew member - unbeknownst to the Careys - for New Glarus at GABF twice and was hassled interminably by Spotted Cow fanatics for a taste of the goodness (which didn’t make it to Denver and left me curious). Eventually, I came to the teat for the first time in 2006 when my uncle passed in nearby Monroe, Wis. The country, especially the Snowmen who shuttle these goods beyond the state lines to longing Midwesterners, owe New Glarus a debt of gratitude for overachieving from the standard Wisco fare.
10+ on the label. jprobst (3), Alabama, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 21, 2009 doesnt get much better than this local micro brew. great people. on facebook. BVery (674), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Draft at Mo’s Irish Pub in Milwaukee. Lightly cloudy, low carbonation, straw gold. Lots of interesting flavors developed by the yeast, fruit and sour dough. The texture is as smooth as flannel sheets. Very interesting and tasty, seems like it would be delicious in most applications. Yay beer! monkeychugg55 (243), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a small white head. The aroma consists mostly of sweet corn, but in more of an organic, fresh smelling way than most macros. There is also some light grassy notes and a faint earthy yeast aroma. For some reason this reminds me of a pumpkin beer without the pumpkin and spices.?.?. The flavor is pretty mild, but crisp. Some light grains fade to light fruit and yeast, with a slightly bitter, but very clean finish. One thing I’ve noticed about New Glarus is that their beers have a real clean taste to them, like Fiji water. Medium body and light but appropriate carbonation. This is a great session beer, perfect for someone who is used to American macros, but wants to try something good for a change. More of a mild ale if you ask me, but enjoyable nonetheless. Seems like it would be perfect on a hot summer day.
