Rich toasty, caramely, cerealy aroma with earthy hops notes. The sweet caramels and cereals are cut by a nice, crisp bitterness and earthy hops finish. Not heavy or cloying like many Oktoberfests. New Glarus is one of the best brewers of session ales and lagers there is. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours a beautiful tawney color with a small white head that settled quickly. Generous amounts of Munich malt in the nose imparting a nice toffee and caramel scent. Flavor is rather unimpressive. None of the caramel and toffee flavor expected with that nose. A little bit of cardboard in the finish makes me wonder if this is maybe last years batch. Medium bodied with soft carbonatioon. Overall not a real great attempt at an Octoberfest. Left me underwhelmed. fuyajo (225), Portland, Oregon, USA
