Aroma picked up some caramel and floral notes, with just some slight spices... with a roasty backbone. Light-to-medium mouthfeel and powerfully smooth. Caramel malts provided some sweetness... with a nicely balanced hoppy bitterness on the finish. Smooth, tasty, and well-balanced.. definitely enjoyed this one! Malty flavor with a hint of hops. Not bad at all. Very enjoyable. Session qualities. Not very balanced. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 15, 2005 On tap @ GTMW. Clear opulent amber in color with a foamy tan head. Aroma is caramel, peat, grain and corn husks. Fuller bodied than anticipated, but a little searing and syrupy. Caramel and woodsy pecans headline the flavors yet diffuse on the palate rather quickly. Other elements seem to seep out of a mixed bag of nuts, from hazelnut shells to dry brazils. Okay, but seemed in cohesive. hezron (604), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 14, 2005 Bottle, fresh 2005 release. Light chewy caramel flavor. Not getting an increadible spice bouquet, but I do notice some floral notes along with the caramel. Copper red color with a very thin white head. Flavor of caramel maltiness with a n abrubt, sweet nutty finish. Slightly sugary, but not cloying. I think I notice some minerals in the flavor also. Light body with a watery texture and a sugary finish. This is a rerate, original rating was 3.1 after 4 big barleywines. jollyraider (252), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2005 The only other Oktoberfest I’ve had is Leinie’s. Let me say that this trumps it hands down. Great session beer, if the alc. % was lower. Crisp, piney hops, sweet malts. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 29, 2004 (12 oz bottle, obtained in trade with marinaro500, thanks Joe!) I thought I would like this more than I do. The main reason why I’m not overly fond of this Oktoberfest is the sugary, perfumy character the flavor has. It’s moderately malty and caramely in the flavor, but the sweetness tastes sugary. I discern very little in the way of classic hops or bitterness, but I do get a floral, perfumy flavor and aroma out of this. The nose is also mildly toasty. Medium bodied, but the palate just seems a bit watery, especially in the short-lived finish. Dark amber color is nice. Pours a medium size off-white head that settles to a thin layer. Small streams of lace here and there. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
