Aromas of spices (cloves, ginger, and light pepper), lightly fruity and some citrus. Tastes of fruitiness (sweet apples) with lighter spiciness. Lively body. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Courtesy hopscotch. Pours a cloudy, dark yellow with a small white head. Big, spicy citrus aroma, alot of orange, maybe some cinnamon or coriander in there too. The taste is very much like the smell. Big spice character, sweet citrus, candy sugar, sweet malts. Big flavor, kind of dances on the taste buds. Some clove or nutmeg, couldnt decipher which, showed up in the finish as well. i liked this beer. TomDecapolis (3208), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 31, 2007 Thanks to hopdog for sharing. Pours a translucent golden light amber with a very small white head. Aroma of clove, floral, various Belgian spices, ginger, perfume, some citrus, bready malt and hints of alcohol. Flavor was a mix of the same, a little dry with light hop bitterness. Boutip (2396), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 27, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Plucier: Poured a golden color ale with a small bubbly white head with little retention. Aroma of light malt with some very subtle spices is blander then expected. Taste is a mix between some dry malt with some light spices and very little yeast in the finish. Body is about average with some medium to low carbonation. This is definitely not one of the most interesting offering from this brewer. GeneralGao (3071), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2007 12 oz bottle. Poured a slightly hazy golden color. Head was bubbly and white with good retention and lacing. It reduced gradually to a thin film. There were whiffs of clove and banana with a hint of lemon. Overall the aromas were subdued with the banana a bit more prominent than the clove. Effervescent and dry on the tongue. Flavor was in step with aroma in the sense that nothing stood out. Again, banana was the most prominent player in the overall profile with minimal clove. Mouth feel was on the thin end of the spectrum. Very mellow, easy drinking beer best characterized as non offensive. dkoonce (889), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2007 Cloudy straw, with a thick white head. Smells more like a lager than a Belgian. Very light and tangy. The dominant fruit is lemons and oranges. Very tangy finish. mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 26, 2007 In my experience Belgians smell better than Wisconsinians...and that is saying something. So the aroma of this beer can be blamed on the other side of the pond. I was sitting with a Packer fan, my Father-in-law, when I tried this beer. I’m not sure his Packer over the Vikings recollections did much for me or the taste of the beer. It was good though. A fine meld of styles into a fashionable, yeasty blend. I’d get it again. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 21, 2007 It pours with a nice, full, enduring head, with good lacing. The color is kind of unappealing -- like diluted lemonade. Clovey aroma. Flavor is mostly clove, with a little ginger and pear. For me, this is just far too drinkable for the style. I always appreciate brewers who experiment, and if you have a few misses along the way, so be it. While New Glarus has some great beers, and they’re always trying new things, it does seem that they’ve had more misses than hits lately.
