Commercial Description:
Who is qualified to judge one's contribution? Is it the pure Wisconsin barley malt or shall credit be given to traditional German and English hops? Maybe it is the Belgian Monastic yeast or the Brewer's tender care? Combined, this is a sophisticated Abbey style ale. Both elegant and drinkable this ale is cleanly aromatic with spicy notes of clove and ginger. Crisp and fragrant up front while gracefully sliding into warm malt notes at the finish. Fermented natually in this bottle, the beer in your hand is a living testament to the value of many working together to create something bigger than the individual parts. Moving a mountain begins with a single stone.

It pours with a nice, full, enduring head, with good lacing. The color is kind of unappealing -- like diluted lemonade. Clovey aroma. Flavor is mostly clove, with a little ginger and pear. For me, this is just far too drinkable for the style. I always appreciate brewers who experiment, and if you have a few misses along the way, so be it. While New Glarus has some great beers, and they’re always trying new things, it does seem that they’ve had more misses than hits lately.

Pours a lightly cloudy wheat color w/ a full white head and good lacing. I didn’t know I was getting a belgian until the aroma. Some definate bread and light fruits hints of bannana esters and candied sugar filled the aroma. Palate is fairly avg maybe a little better. Flavor was candied sugar, sweet bread doughes, light fruits definately a hint of bananna. Quite a nice surprise.

This is simply a great ale. I bought a sampler pack from New Glarus and this is the one that found a year round home in the fridge. The aroma is light with some hop and yeast, but the flavor blows you away. A perfect beer for almost any time. Except when it gets cold here in Wisconsin.

Bottle courtesy of Lucy Saunders. Hazy yellow body, small white head (3+). Mild aroma of light yeast and wheat like notes. Light alcohol touches and floral notes. Pleasantly light flavour, light floral, yeast, very light hints of sweet citrus. (7+) Average palate is appropriate. Very nice drinkable brew. The flavour is on the light side, but manages some subtle complexity. Nice session brew.

Yellowish color. Smell of yeast, clove, honey, sweet tart candies, flowers, bananas, and a hint of hop. Taste of yeast, sugar, ginger spice, ground peppers, candy, honey and a dry finish.

Pours a deep cloudy yellow with a huge white head that dissapates to a ring. Aroma of belgian yeast, herbs a nd spice. Taste is clean belgian yeast with some pear and just a hint of spice. I really like the smooth full but light mouthfeel. Finishes dry.

I stopped by the New Glarus Brewery and picked this up on the way home from the Wisconsin Dells. The taste is of citrus fruit with overtones of ginger. The body and taste are both very mild. With this beer you get alot of the tast you would expect in a Belgian Ale combined with a great degree of drinkability. You can kick it with this beer, and not look like a complete snob in front of your friends.

Bottle and served in my NG pint glass: Pours a clean golden hue with a light ring of foam once it faded but zero lace. The aroma has notes of grassy, herbal and aromatic hops along with sugary Belgian yeast esters (apple and pear too) and some grainy and husky malt vapours. The taste is a mild Belgian Ale in character with moderate fruity tones, some pale malt overtones, and a note of peppery spice. The mouth feel is smooth and surprisingly warming for such a moderate alcohol beer. Enjoyable nice little beer.
