Taste of spice and citrus in the foreground with a sweet malt background. Kind of a spicey finish. GG (1648), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 15, 2007 NorCal tasting June ’07 - Excellent beer. Reminded me of a Wit almost. Aroma is citrusy/oranges, subtle spices and enough yeast to notice. Appearance was a hazy yellow body with a foamy white head. Mouthfeel was undeniably soft. Flavor was more akin to a Wit than a Belgian, but okay. It still carried that orangey/coriander taste that I love. Plus it maintained enough of a hop profile to keep it crisp and not get overly sweet. Another excellent beer from New Glarus. Keep ’em coming! MrBendo (1043), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2007 Thanks to pantanap for the bottle. Cloudy straw color with a small head. Aroma of bananas and cloves, sweet malt and pears. Spicy taste; pepper, clove and ginger really make this beer stand out. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2007 My Bottom Line:
This Belgian’s Ale doughy cereals and sweetish fruity esters lead to gingery spiciness and fizzy carbonation. A decent quencher, but far from being amongst the most memorable New Glarus products.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam sits atop the hazy straw blond.
-The nose is rather engaging which isn’t the case of the timid flavor profile.
-These flavors fade out into a tame, dry finish, where faint herbal hops bring some enjoyment.
-Esters are quite banana-like in the nose.
Bottle; thx Mike! mhollender22 (9), USA does not count | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 11, 2007 It’s a pretty darned average beer. Average by microbrew standards, of course. It seems on first like it will be something special, but that feeling never materializes. A bit thick in places, not really a warm weather beer (since it was released this spring). bboeckl (135), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 9, 2007 Bottle. Pale cloudy yellow. Foamy head. First impression: citrus. clove, floral, bitter notes. Refreshing mountain spring water flowing through green flowered meadows and dark needled pine forests into a cool resevoir of cloves and freshly scraped lemon peel. Steeped in sunshine. Refreshingly medicinal. On Wisconsin!!! truebluehes (104), Tipton, Iowa, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Contrary to other reviews, I actually really like this beer. New Glarus’ "normal" beers can be a little disappointing (Spotted Cow, I’m looking in your direction). This is a very nice "alternative" summer beer - light and refreshing with and interesting Belgian yeast twist. Between this and Leinie’s Summer Wheat, one doesn’t need any other beer this summer. My only real complaint is that the beer is perhaps a little too light on the palate; but overall, a strong entry from New Glarus.
