Commercial Description:
Barley Wines are big beers! In fact this is the strongest beer we have ever brewed for our friends here in Wisconsin. This beer is "malt accented" so we searched the world and found the richest, most expensive barley varieties we could find. We bought the best barley available not only here in the United States but in Belgium, Germany and Scotland. You can thank Scottish farmers for growing Golden Promise barley because we used bushels of it in this beer to yield a full and rich flavor. We sourced hops from the United States and Germany but again turned to the UK for our signature hop, "East Kent Golding". This ale is fermented in this bottle and is suitable for laying down. It is so strong that we guess it will continue to improve for years!

Enormous thanks to Cletus for reuniting me with the beer that convinced me that Barley Wines weren’t all hot alcoholic messes. This poured strangely clear with tons of floaties, a beautiful brilliant red color with a nice head. Aroma has a good caramel maltiness and a bit of alcohol, and some apple. The flavor still has some nice hops in there surprisingly enough, with a nice cherry and caramel, alcohol is there but it is very well balanced. I hope the Iced barley wine is this good aged. This stuff is exquisite.

Shakeyfest 09. Huge thanks to Andy! So many floaties but who cares. Rather sweet like an aged barley wine, no surprise. Good malt complexity. Dries up well with some alcohol kick -nice- on the tongue in the finish. Bit of good tang.

Amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma of sugar, alcohol, malt, toffee and a hint of citrus. Taste of caramel, alcohol, sugar, honey and mild fruit. Body is a bit sticky and it warms a bit on the finish. Pretty good stuff and it has seem to have aged nicely.
