Commercial Description:
Barley Wines are big beers! In fact this is the strongest beer we have ever brewed for our friends here in Wisconsin. This beer is "malt accented" so we searched the world and found the richest, most expensive barley varieties we could find. We bought the best barley available not only here in the United States but in Belgium, Germany and Scotland. You can thank Scottish farmers for growing Golden Promise barley because we used bushels of it in this beer to yield a full and rich flavor. We sourced hops from the United States and Germany but again turned to the UK for our signature hop, "East Kent Golding". This ale is fermented in this bottle and is suitable for laying down. It is so strong that we guess it will continue to improve for years!

Pours thick syrup red with a thin gray head that rings my glass with an island of foam in the middle. There is a lot of booze in the nose, but so much else also. Apricot, cherries, chocolate, caramel, toffee, blue berries, all play together nicely. Lemon toffee flavor hit me first then a magnificent mixture of dark fruit and vanilla with a nut note. I am reminded of old numbskull as I drink this, and that is a compliment in my book. Incredible sweet flavors but not cloying, there is a fantastic bitter balance here that is citrus and floral with a touch of wood. A nice sipper to contemplate life the universe and everything with. A grape cola flavor is present in the finish. Lots of raisin in the flavor too. I need to slow down my thought process and quiet myself down and I can feel this working. Wow, this leaves some legs down the side of my glass. A nice peach flavor emerges in this the chocolate is coming through well too. This is the kind of barley wine I like. POurs with a reddish-orange body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. It’s sweet, malty and toffeish with a touch of candy sugar and a slight hint of hops underneath. Medium to full bodied, smooth and warming.

Bottle... Clear, amber ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Lots of maple, toffee and wildflower honey in the nose. A bit vineous. Malty flavor with an explosion of sticky sweetness... honey, toffee and caramel. Warming alcohol. Full-bodied and syrupy with medium carbonation. Finishes sweet, then lightly bitter with a warm sheath of drying alcohol. I dig it! Thanks go out to artusory for the bottle!

Big thanks to CaptainCougar for this one. Very nice brown body with a quickly diminishing ivroy head. Nice fruity aroma, some light malts with hop accents. Excellent body, smooth and fruity hops. Very clean ending, the alcohol is not very noticable.
