Commercial Description:
Barley Wines are big beers! In fact this is the strongest beer we have ever brewed for our friends here in Wisconsin. This beer is "malt accented" so we searched the world and found the richest, most expensive barley varieties we could find. We bought the best barley available not only here in the United States but in Belgium, Germany and Scotland. You can thank Scottish farmers for growing Golden Promise barley because we used bushels of it in this beer to yield a full and rich flavor. We sourced hops from the United States and Germany but again turned to the UK for our signature hop, "East Kent Golding". This ale is fermented in this bottle and is suitable for laying down. It is so strong that we guess it will continue to improve for years!

Nice fine creamy thick full head, with lots of lace. Very clear copper color. Fragrant malty hop nose. Vineous, caramely bittersweetm with no apparent alcohol except on the finish. Had it on draft at the Bodega downtown La Crosse which is gone now, but they still have bottles.

bottle-i was very impressed with this one. I scored a 6er up in Madison on christmas weekend. Pours very burnt amber almost copper with a small soapy white head swirling around the glass. nice carbonation-looks very nice in the glass. smells like an aged barleywine-big chewey malts-caramel-light alcohol and lots of sweetness. sugary and with an apple tone. big carmel toasted apples, foffee, sugary with note of licorice in the finish. lightly hoppy with some faint resinous/earthy character. I usually dont like malty English styled barleywines, but this one takes the cake for me. lots of dryness on the finish even with all the sweetness. Body is full with proper carbonation and a slightly surupy slick feel. leaves a sugary coating on the mouth. Very nice!

12oz. bottle. Fairly slight aroma, some honeyed, toasted grains and flowers with hints of berry, old leaves, peppery alcohol and vanilla. Clear medium-dark red-orange color with a head that subsided completely. Flavor profile features some mild hop spice and bitterness up front, the middle fruity and seeing some faint butterscotch and caramel sweetness which carries through to the toasty, drying, herbal and mildly alcoholic finish. Smooth and gently warming on the palate, body is medium-full. Very easy-going beer for the style, perhaps overly so. Would be a potentially interesting candidate for aging.

Poured a clear deep amber with a reddish tint and small off-white head. Aroma is thick, sweet, malty, and fruity. Notes of cherries. Fruity flavor is sweet and malty. Semi-dry and warming. medium to full bodied. Almost silky.

12 oz bottle courtesty of JCapriotti! Pour was pleasant enough, a deep red-amber with just the slightest of beige heads that dissipated quickly. Aroma is strong in the alcohol dept, candy sugar fruitiness too. Taste is swweeettt malts, fruits, caramel and molasses, plus a big alcohol reminder...whew. Pretty full bodied...this one seems pretty hot still. I like it now, but it would be nice to try some a little further down the road. Warms my innards this one does.

Bottle from Styles. Pours a clear, medium amber color with a fair sized eggwhite head that is fairly short lived. Minimal spotty lacing. Lightly fruity smelling with a touch of syrupy malt aroma also. Medium bodied, a touch cloying. Fair carbonation. Flavor runs initially sweet but a more than adequate earthy bitterness pervades towards the middle and lingers in the finish. Alcohol is tucked away neatly. A fairly decent Barleywine. Thank you Chris!

Bottle, from trade with Captaincougar. Good nose, sweet. Wheat, nutty, maple. Small to no head, Clean orange color. Minor lacing. Sweet flavors, like aroma with vanilla also. Thick body, Creamy viscous mouthfeel, drying bitter finish, though it’s that higher ABV dry. Very nice, sure went down fast. Had something familiar about it, like what I think of with Victory HopDevil. Thanks Captain.
