Commercial Description:
Barley Wines are big beers! In fact this is the strongest beer we have ever brewed for our friends here in Wisconsin. This beer is "malt accented" so we searched the world and found the richest, most expensive barley varieties we could find. We bought the best barley available not only here in the United States but in Belgium, Germany and Scotland. You can thank Scottish farmers for growing Golden Promise barley because we used bushels of it in this beer to yield a full and rich flavor. We sourced hops from the United States and Germany but again turned to the UK for our signature hop, "East Kent Golding". This ale is fermented in this bottle and is suitable for laying down. It is so strong that we guess it will continue to improve for years!

12-oz. bottle provided via trade with Duane. Pours hazy orange with small particles, spare fizzy off-white head, patchy film, spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (cookie, caramel), average hops (flowers, perfume), average yeast (dough) with notes of honey, cardboard, and apple. Full bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity and bitterness; perfumed hop bitter flavor with notes of honeyed malt.

Sweet or bitter? Maybe sour, with lots of alcohol and malt. A rich consistency that cools you down as it warms up your throat.

Thanks to Beerdrenched for the trade on this over a year ago - it takes me a while to get to things at times. Pours murky copper with a small tan head. The aroma has lots of musty caramel malts that are quite biscuity, rich and sweet. Full bodied with a good amount of frothy soft carbonation. The taste starts with sweet malt and a moderate amount of fruitiness that is on the lemon / lime side. Somehow it works well for it. The finish has more of the lemon / lime, some spice and slight alcohol warmth. This was an enjoyable barleywine.

Pour was a clean, gold color with a small off white head. The aroma was very sweet carmel and smoked peat. Flavors were a bit on the sweet side too with a nice hop profile.
