Commercial Description:
Barley Wines are big beers! In fact this is the strongest beer we have ever brewed for our friends here in Wisconsin. This beer is "malt accented" so we searched the world and found the richest, most expensive barley varieties we could find. We bought the best barley available not only here in the United States but in Belgium, Germany and Scotland. You can thank Scottish farmers for growing Golden Promise barley because we used bushels of it in this beer to yield a full and rich flavor. We sourced hops from the United States and Germany but again turned to the UK for our signature hop, "East Kent Golding". This ale is fermented in this bottle and is suitable for laying down. It is so strong that we guess it will continue to improve for years!

KSBF 2006 RB after party. Pours a translucent golden amber with a foamy off white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee a touch of vanilla and sweet malts. Flavor of the same with some dark fruits and fresh hops.

Big alcohol bomb aroma. The flavor was all roasted caramel, very sweet, with some dark dried fruit, and alcohol again, but not over the top. A tad thin on the palate but quite nice!

Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a thin off-white head. Plenty of toffee and butterscotch malts in the aroma. Slight grain notes with mild hop bitterness and carmel candy notes. ABV well hidden.

An amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet alcoholic combined with notes of caramel and wood. The flavor is like liquid caramel, strong caramel flavors and very thick, but also with light notes of alcohol, which in turn gives it a dryness.

huge thanks to secret santa! pours an orangish red with a small off white head very little lacing. aroma is alcohol caramel hops malt. taste is much of the same with a smooth lightly carbonated mouthfeel and a quickly diminishing caramel aftertaste.

On-Tap @ freakin brothers of all places. Crazyness I tell ya. Dark red/ slight brown color, decent-sized head. Aroma is tons of dark fruit, dark and fruity, booze and dark candy. Flavor is hot, very alcoholic, it needs time to mellow, though this keg was aging quite nicely. Usual dark fruit stuff almost metallic alcohol twang at the end. Not bad, huge potential.

Bottle. Color is slightly red and orange, luminescent. Nose of starchy honey, rough hops, rye and old tea leaves. Oily and thick, rusty cherry flavors abound. The bitterness is a bit boring, almost to the point of being annoying... it’s slightly metallic, slightly creamy too, with some resin cherry flavors in the finish, and a cigarette ash presence as well. Doesn’t do much more me, overall.

12oz bottle, left behind by Kevin...gracias senor! Amber color. Sparse, but thick around the edges head...some lace. Wonderful red hue in the light. Gently rising bubbles. Intense carmel aroma shows faint citric hop spice...a wee bit of oxidized malt too, it plays well. Impressive palate. Malt, oxidation, hops completely in-check. Drinks like velvet. A very harmonious barelywine. I’m sure glad they didn’t add fruit to this one! Very "english" in character I guess...as the hops aren’t the focal point.
