Light gold in color, sampled at the brewery. Smells like beer (decent beer in fact) but tastes closer to O’Doul’s original than I’d like. New Glarus can do better, but for the style this definitely beats a Rolling Rock. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA

Snowy, creamy head, moderately lasting, pale gold and bubbly...reasonably pleasant fresh grainy nose, perhaps a touch of corn...refreshing, sweet mouthfeel, bit sugary--could be corn syrup--kinda sticky and with very little finish, no hops. I found this quite drinkable for what it is, though not up to NG’ high standards. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Oct 4, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with hopdog, thanks Steve!) I was expecting that New Glarus would put together a decent pale lager, but I’m totally disappointed in this brew. It pours a pale straw color, fully clear, with plentiful carbonation bubbles rising through the beer. The white head starts small and quickly fades to a tiny ring. The flavor is grainy and lightly citrusy up front, with mild honeydew melon in the finish. But the nose is grainy lager. Light bodied, but not far from being watery. Drinking while totally naked can be a really fun thing, but actually drinking Totally Naked is something I never want to do again. pkbites (344), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 1/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Sep 15, 2005 Very disappointing for a micro! Almost no presence of hops detected. Double extra SUPER watery texture. The web site says it has 5% alcohol, but I don’t believe it. You would detect alcohol in something this void of any other flavors.
Geez! Milwaukees Best Light has more taste than this! And then theres the price: $6.99 for a sixer on 9/15/2k5. I will not buy this again! juliejalapeno (16), USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 29, 2005 Super light appearence and head. Very watery with a hint of hops. A little bit of malt frothiness adds to the faint hops to make a very light, yet still satisfying, beer. jollyraider (252), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2005 Basically appearance is that of every macro out there, but the taste is only what you can get with high quality, no adjunct brewing. Pretty plain in every way, but it is so much better than the macros. What Bud, Miller, et. al. should be. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 18, 2005 Very clear, very pale straw color, with a modest amount of white head that disappears completely. Initially some very spicy hops, with sour green apple and yeast. Some grassy/dill aroma. Modest hop flavor with that nice herbal Saaz quality, some pleasant grain flavor, and a clean finish. Soft on the palate with just enough carbonation to keep it lively. I’d say this is leaps and bounds better than most American "premium" lagers. But man--more hops would really help here. New Glarus does triple decoction mashing already--so why not load up on the hops and go for something more like a real Czech pils?
